Question about Raymarine ST70 Autopilot Control Head E12196

Open Question

My ST70 Raymarine autopilot sometimes does not respond to +/- 1 or 10 degrees command. The button itself works as I can hear the beep. If, for instance, I push the button 5 times the autopilot just receive one or two. I disconnected the refrigerator, switched on or off the engine but everything is the same. Sometimes it happen, sometimes it doesn't.

SOURCE: Clutch failure of Raymarine M81130 linear drive

Try putting 12 vdc directly to the clutch circuit. You should hear the clutch engage. If this is operating properly, then the course computer circuit has failed. If this is not working then the linear drive needs to be rebuilt.

Autopilot shows "no rudref"

The rudder sensor works like a light dimmer, so you get 5V and ground on the outside two connections and a varying voltage between about 1 and 4 volts depending on rudder position

Raymarine smart pilot st6002 backlight is too dim

Get a new backlight, inverter is probably ok.

The way to check that the inverter is ok:

disconnect the backlight and if you hear a high pitched noise, the inverter is still good.

replacement backlight is available from a company called Being Seen Technologies.
