Tv projection lamp have a life span like any other bulbs light sources.Tipically life spans of these tvs projection lamps are around 20,000 hrs of useages. That average out like about 1 1/2 or 2 years and around 4 or 5 hours of the tv is on and watching it everyday. Now the front tv bazel frame of the tv.The word "LAMP" LED light indication is on or flashing are indication of the tv projection lamp life span are over and the tv must have it projection lamp to be replacement to another tv projection lamp.Projection Lamp fillerments tipically dies out when it reaches it life span.Mark or burns on the projection Lamp, will not show or be there,if the tv projection lamp run it natural life span cycles.

Lamp life

This lamp life is about right if the TV is getting constant use. Please check that the cooling fan is running at the correct speed and the vents are unobstructed.

The projector came on for about 10 minutes and then shut off

Welcome to FixYa.

The projector could be overheating or the lamp has reached its end of life.

Solution:
1. Clean or replace the air filter. 2. Check the lamp run time. If the lamp time has reached its end of life, replace the lamp.

Use the manual to do the above steps. Keep me posted.

I have had my television for 3 years and apparently the bulb is supposed to last 5 years but every year we have had to replace the bulb, So tell me where the problem would be, what a great...

I have a very good suggestion for you. If the set is working go into the customer menu and look for something called "quick start".

If this set has this feature it is default---means unless you change it that will be the way it is. It was a stupid idea----what happens is if it is there and engaged when you shut the set off the lamp will dim down about 60% but it and the fan will be one 7/24 which tends to shorten the lamp life.

Average lamp life should be at least 2,000 hours.

If you have the set off and turn it on and instantly get a picture, it is engaged----the "idea" was the customer would not have to wait for the set to slowly bring the lamp up to full brightness (about 15-20 seconds from start to finish).

If you turn the set on and get a normal bright picture in under 7 seconds your set has this feature.

The way this works if it is not engaged is when you shut the set off the lamp will turn off completely and the lamp fan will run for a few minutes until the temperature of the lamp drops below a specific level.

Not to mention vastly shortening the life of the lamp, it also is eating power 7/24.

Please let me know what you find and if you have any questions let me know by posting a "comment" here.

How to check the backlight life of my hp l1706

Claimed life for the lamp is 50,000 Hours, but in real life, no way to tell. You can look here what is failed in the backlight lamps, it can be from worn out (blacken ends is one sign of bad lamps, same as home fluorescent lamp), poor soldering works on the lamps. see pictures here: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
What is the problem with your monitor anyway?

What is the lamp life on a sanyo plv-z2 bulb and how to read the bulb life there are 3 numbers that come up when i check it

If I remember correctly, you hold down either the power or the menu button for 30 seconds... I believe it is the power button, and it will briefly display it on the screen, but this assumes it was reset at the time the lamp was installed. The counter counts up on this model, and the lamp replace light will come on at 3000 hours. I have 2 of these units, and I have gotten at least 5000 hours out of each lamp. Toward the end of the lamp life, it may start getting dim and/or have difficulty starting, but I probably wouldn't replace it until you either notice the dimming or the lamp fails, although I've heard some say they can damage the projector when they fail, I have not had any problems.

Panasonic PT-AE900u no image

may i know now what is the age of your projector. have you done replacing the lamp of the unit before.

Lamp life varies by manufacturer and projector type. Lamp life also depends on the projector's environment: air flow, clean air, and also on the level of usage. Check the user's manual or specification pages for your projector to determine the exact lamp life.

Sony full definition lcd model 1080

Yes you have a bad lamp. Unfortunately, I have noted that many dealers either "forget" to tell the customer that the lamp will require replacement, or they overstate the expected life of the lamp. The usual life of a lamp, as stated by Sony is 4000 to 8000 hours. There are 3 factors that effect lamp life:
1) the number of times the TV is turned on and off. Every turn on works the lamp very hard, so to make the lamp last longer, limit the number of turn on/turn off cycles. My rule of thumb is this: If you will be back to the TV within 30 minutes, leave it on.
2) Proper ventilation. In general the TV should have at least 6 inches of space on all sides to properly cool.
3) Power loss. If you have frequent power outages, buy a small UPS for the TV. The TV requires a "cool-down" cycle where the fans run to properly cool the set. If the cooling cycle is interrupted, it can effect lamp life.

Replace the lamp with and original Sony lamp and vacuum any openings you can see that are dusty and you should be good to go. Be sure to rate this solution. Thanks!
