I have a Fisher and Paykal MW512. When starting the machine on cold cycle the water only comes out in dribbles. On a hot cycle the it will fill but when it gets to the rinse it will not fill with water. Is it worth getting fixed??? Whats wrong with it?

Had similar issue - cold water wouldn't come thorugh to fill the drum but the hot would. (changed the hot water hose to the cold water tap as an interim fix). father and husband managed to get the lid off the machine (screwdriver prising involved to flip the lid off the tabs near the front of the machine) then they were able to get in and have a look. ended up being a solanoid (spelling?) that had died. basically this part has magnetic parts to open/close the valve and the magnets had died or something. part replaced -- cost about $65. machine working fine now. hope that helps and made sense!

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
If you have checked that the cold tap is turned on fully and the hose is not kinked or squashed at the back, it is worth while checking the cold water inlet filter. Turn the tap off and remove the cold pipe at the washer end. Inside the inlet port there is normally a little filter which should just slide out. Clean if necessary and replace it and the hose. If after turning the tap back on there is no improvement, the problem is symptomatic of a malfunctioning cold water control valve. Sorry but it needs replacing and a service call ;-0(
Good luck,
John C

Hi I am buying a MW512 but only have a cold water supply, does this model have an internal heating system so I can do a warm or hot wash?

Hi - Fisher & Paykels does not come with heaters fitted, the two hot/cold inlets are used in prortion to the settings of the wash cycle in use.

So with a cold tap only you would expect cold wash functions only, if you accidently chose a warm wash the machine will start beeping as there is nothing to bring the temp level to the expected setting.

Hope this helps you choose..

It sounds like the fill hoses are inverted. Most of the Fisher washers only fill with cold water after the initial fill. So if the hose are inverted then it will only fill with hot. Beyond this I'm at a loss. Good luck

My washing machine model mw512 will not fill properly on the cold cycle - it just dribbles. I have checked the hose which is fine and the hot works ok also.

this is a sign that the hot/cold mix valve is bad and not opening properly.
the valve is the small plastic part that both hoses go into on the back of the machine,, if you remove the two hoses and the back panel from the machine - the valve is held in place by one little screw. there are four wires that connect to the valve -- make sure you label the hot water wires and the cold water wires. your local appliance repair shop will have this part on hand and they will sell it to you for around 25 dollars.

Washing machine cycle far too long

Hi Fiona.I believe the cold valve is probably faulty & is not flowing fast Its probably dribbling water in?taking forever to fill.the machine should be giving up & beeping at you if thats the case.If you have a faulty cold valve then switching to warm won't help as the hot valve will close itself off to compensate for the lack of cold water..afterall you have told the machine to fill with warm,,if it cant make warm water because of a faulty cold valve then the hot will decrease to a point where its not letting any water thru..try a hot only wash..if it goes thru wash cycle ok then good chance its cold valve problem.wow i hope that helped.

FP Hot water used when cold selected

YOU NEED TO CHECK THE WATER TEMPERATURE AFTER THE TUB IS FILLED WITH WATER WHEN COLD IS SELECTED. NEW MACHINES WILL USE BOTH THE HOT AND COLD WATER VALVES TO FILL THE MACHINE. THEY DO NOT WANT YOU WASHING WITH STRICTLY COLD WATER AS THE DETERGENT WILL NOT PROPERLY DISOLVE. COLD WASH TEMP SHOULD AVERAGE 65-70 DEGREES.
