Itask button and 5 way navigation control button not working on Hp Ipaq rx3715
Just read your reply to my post concerning the problem, I am having with this unit e.g. itask button en image zone button inoperative and 5 way navigation controller only responds to upward movement.
Was wondering, if I could replace the key board myself or is it a fairly sensitive part to replace? Also you don't think that the registry settings could be causing the problems, I take it?
I have some experience at repairing handhelds, as I had to remove and reinstall a higher capacity battery in my Palm Tungsten T3 about a month ago. I realize though some things are best left to the trained techs.

As far as I am concerned ads are the most annoying part of internet especially rollover text ads and flash ads
So I have started looking for plugins that can block these annoyances and found one called ad-blocker plus a free plugin in Mozilla Firefox that can block all ads. Click one the link below to go to the ad-blocker plugin page https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865 You should see a page like the one in the image below
Click the add to firefox button if you have trouble installing watch the youtube video for help. Install it and the page with ad posted in the link above looks like the image below
While holding down on the far left (calendar) and far right (iTask), press in on the reset button on the back of the unit for about 5 seconds. After you see the screen fade, release all buttons. You can verify the hard reset by pressing the power button. If the device does not power on, then you have successfully reset you unit. To reactivate the battery you must either connect the iPAQ back to AC power or press the reset button again with your stylus
Please try this step to turn off your alarm light.
1. Hit the "menu": Key 2. Hit "Copy" Key 3. Hit "#" Key 4. Scroll thru the menu headings until you come to "Test Mode" - 12th heading 5. Hit the "3" button- this will bring up Eprom Clear 6. Hit "0" button 7. Hit the "Stop" button
Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.
To do the hard reset, while on battery (NOT A/C) power, hold down the two outside front-panel buttons (Calendar and iTask), While holding them, press the reset button with the stylus. Keep these buttons all pressed until the image on the screen begins to fade (about 4 seconds), then you can release the reset and application buttons. To restart your iPAQ, you must then plug the unit into A/C power, or do a Soft Reset by again, pressing the reset button with the stylus.
If the model is post 2007, to get parts or repair contact Ionic Breeze support. Here contact page.
If the model was manufactured before 2007, read below, in that case I suggest not proceeding with the repair.
I want to call attention on the fact that several of old Ionic Breeze models are not
being manufactured anymore because of health concerns. New model use a
completely different technology. Parts for old models that raised concerns are not distributed anymore.
I suggest contacting manufacturer,
if parts are not available, then the purifier was among the ones
related to health concer. In that case I suggest replacing the ionic
purifier with a different air purifier.
since the e mail you sent to me was do noy reply i will try to get my point across here.
i posted my question on your 10 buck forum the answer i got was read the manual and now after posting on your free forum the reply i get is to try posting in the 10 buck forum. sound like a run around to me
some software program is causeing it to slow down.
try uninstalling some of your programs, or preform a hard reset witch returns the pda into the original state.
How Do I Perform a Hard Reset?
Perform a soft reset when:
Press and hold the Calendar and iTask buttons.
While holding these buttons, use the stylus to lightly press the Reset button on the bottom of the iPAQ Pocket PC for about two seconds.
When the Pocket PC screen begins to fade, release the Calendar and iTask buttons first, and then remove the stylus from the Reset button. CAUTION: If you push and hold the Reset button for more than two seconds, the battery disconnects. To restart the unit, either plug the unit into the AC Adapter or press the Reset button again.
Hello, it isn't that simple as a broken charger. Try the following thing. Connect battery to the PDA, check that the battery LID is connected FIRMLY to the body (there is a contact there that woun't allow the PDA to start if the lid isn't connected properly, you may want to check it too, look carefully for a small black thing and check that it can be pressed). Then connect the pda for half hour to the charger, even if no light or amber led is flashing. Then make a master reset as showed here and connect the PDA to a usb sync cable with your computer. Press simultaneous the soft reset and the power button, then press only the soft reset button. The PDA should start. If not, there is a problem with a DC converter component on the mainboard or the connector I was talking about before. Even if the charger is broken, your PDA should power on from USB cable. Good luck, feel free to ask further questions and always remember to rate replies received from this site :)

Well, this isn't a solution, but rather a way to work with it until you find the solution. On my rx3715, I have something called iTask. I have a button I can press on the unit that brings it up, or I can go to Programs and tap on iTask. Once it's up, I can see which programs are running and close one or all of them. Another way, if you don't have iTask or something like it, is to use your memory settings to close programs. On mine, I go to Settings>Memory and then the Running Programs tab. From there I can "stop" any program.
I know this doesn't solve the problem, but now at least you'll be able to close all those programs.
For a solution, I'd try doing a soft reset. If that doesn't work, do a hard reset. Maybe someone else will have some better ideas.
