Question about Garden

The cutting belt keeps on splitting. Not sure but the middle pulley is uneven with the rest of the pulleys. The belt goes around the front pulley near the motor and drops down to the middle pulley. The middle of the belt splits. Should the centre pulley be even and if so how can we do it. will this solve the problem of the belts splitting and breaking

The deck blade pulleys should all be on the same plane. sounds like someone replaced one of the mandrels and put the wrong one in, making it too short.

I am trying to hange the serpentine belt on my 09 lancer rallyart and it keeps slipping off

Locate the two belts on the left side (passenger side) of your Mitsubishi Lancer. The outer belt is a serpentine belt, operating four pulleys and the inner belt is your alternator belt.

  • 2 Follow the serpentine (outer) belt to the three pulleys lined up vertically near the front of the engine compartment. Locate the middle pulley, which is the tension pulley for the belt.
  • 3 Loosen the bolt on the middle pulley with a socket wrench by turning counter-clockwise. Do not remove the bolt, just turn it a couple of times. Loosen the tensioner bolt on the side of the of the pulley, facing the front of the vehicle.
  • 4 Remove the serpentine belt and then loosen the bolt on the alternator. With the alternator loose, move it forward so that the alternator belt loosens up and then remove belt from the pulleys.
  • 5 Install the new alternator belt by placing it over both inside pulleys. Tighten the tension on the alternator belt by moving the alternator back and keeping tension on it by holding it back with a long screwdriver. While the alternator belt is tight, use a socket wrench to tighten up the bolt on the alternator.
  • 6 Place the serpentine belt back on the pulleys and then use a socket wrench on the bolt on the front of the tension pulley. Once the serpentine belt is tight, tighten up the bolt in the middle of the tension pulley.
  • 7 Start the Mitsubishi Lancer's engine to test the alternator belt and make sure it is working properly. Once you have verified it is working, turn the engine off.

Need a belt routing diagram for a 15.5hp craftsman kohler command model #917259542

With the model number you have you can search for craftsman parts and go to sears and enter the model number and select the deck and find the replacement belt routing sticker for your deck. It goes on the top, left, front.

The belt comes from the motor pulley in between the pulleys in the middle and around the back of them, then out to the front side of blade pulleys, around the outside and straight across the back from blade pulley to blade pulley. Not a hard routing. If looking down on the deck from the seat it will look like an inverted T. Watch out for the belt keepers that help keep the belt aligned in the pulleys, may need to gently retract them to get belt in the pulley.

How to change a serpentine belt on a '99 Dodge caravan

There's an idler pulley that has a 15MM bolt right in the middle holding it on if you turn this bolt the whole idler will move tightening or loosening the belt depending on the direction you turn it. turn it in the loosening drivection and derail the belt from any on the pulleys. an dyou can release the tenstion. that the belt off the rest of the pulleys and pay attention to how they go as the new belt hes to be put on the same. it's important the the tenstioner work smoothly, if it binds or it tracks out of line with the belt it's bad ( worn out) and it needs to be replaced also. The bolt in the middle of it holds it on, ( not the pulley but the place the tensioner pivots on) the new tenstioner comes with it's own bolt and nut. ( yeah you have to reach around behind it and hold the nut to get it off and tighten the bolt on.).. Once you have the belt routed around all the pulleys except the easies one to get to, pull it towards the last pulley and turn the tenstioner to loose and work the belt onto the last pulley being careful not to catch your finger under the belt. Do not use sharp tools as the belt is easy to damage. make sure the belt is centered in all of the pulleys, and not hanging over the edges of any of the pulleys if it is and you run the car the belt will be damaged very quickly and have to be replaced. It's a good idea to draw a picture of the pulleys and the way the belt goes and look at the picture you draw and the belt before you take it off to be sure you put it on the same way it;s possible to put it in alot of ways but it won't fit or work correctly.

Starts will not move forward or backv belt is broken how do you change it can i do it without removing the deck

No, the deck will have to be removed. You will also need to remove the stacked pulleys from the crankshaft of the engine. There are 2 idler pulleys in the middle of the belt path that will also need to be loosened in order to get the belt around them. You will need to put the new belt around the rear (transmission) pulley first, then work your way forward. Make sure to get the belt installed completely against the pulleys and not around the belt guides, as this will destroy a new belt very quickly. The 2 middle pulleys will be spring loaded. Mount the belt around them, then take the belt to the front. It may be helpful to engage the parking brake, as this will hold the tension off of the middle pulleys while you put the belt on the upper pulley of the front pulley stack. Reinstall the front stacked pulleys and release the parking brake. Carefully inspect the entire belt path. The belt should be tight, but movable. It should also not be touching anything except the pulleys. If all looks well, fire it up and test drive. If that goes well, reinstall the deck. The whole job should take an hour or two.
    Good luck!

    Getting the belt back on

This is difficult to describe online but im assuming you mean the drive belt. So im going to try to explain this.

There are 4 pulleys, 3 shaped like a triangle with 1 pulley in the middle. The belt goes around the outside of the pulleys on all 3 sides. Between the bottom two pulleys the belt goes around the bottom right pulley up and around the center pulley and back down around the bottom left pulley. I tried to make it understandable, pretty confusing to type out though. good luck

Cheryl the belt goes in line with the pulleys. 1st Put the belt around the drum. 2nd put the belt around the pulley on the motor. 3rd pull down on the idler pulley and set it so that is pushes on the back side of the belt. Remember the ribs on the belt go against the drum. When done the pulley will take up the tension on the belt. Hope this helps.
