Question about Apple MacBook 13"White /2.0Ghz Intel Core2 Duo White/2GB (2x1gb)/80GB/SuperDrive (Z0DT) Mac Notebook

1 Answer

Stickies I accidentally moved my stickies to my trash and then deleted them from my computer. I thought I had a copy of them somewhere else, but I can't find it. I downloaded stickies plus from the web but they will only show up in the dashboard. I want to use them on the desktop, and I can't figure out how to get them out there.

There are two different Post-It like programs for Mac. One is for use in your Dashboard only, the other is for your desktop.
Go to your Applications folder and look for "Stickies", if it's there then all you'll have to do is click it to turn it on or drag it to your Dock to give yourself a shortcut (a Dock based shortcut not the same as an "alias").
If you have managed to delete the program "Stickies" from your Applications folder, you can use your Mac OS X disk to replace it, or you may also copy it from another Mac.

I have just purchased an external hard drive for my mac as it is now full. its a toshiba store.e canvio. i have just transferred a movie from iTunes to the drive but it will not play and says file is

This may be a permissions problem. In finder, click on the file, then go to File:Get Info (or type <command>-i). In the file info window, look for "Sharing and permissions." Click on the triangle to expand. Look for a padlock icon, then click on it and type in your administrator password when it is requested. Now you can change permission from "No access" to "Read Only" or "Read and Write."

If this is not available, you've run afoul of iTunes copy protection, or iTunes is not set to look there for files. In the first case, you'll have to work from inside iTunes to get a viable copy onto the external drive, perhaps as a backup copy. In the second case, you would open Preferences in the iTunes menu, then click the Advanced tab to get to the iTunes media folder location dialog. (Make sure the external drive is connected before opening Preferences.) Click "Change..." and browse to the proper folder on the external hard drive. You will have to change back to the original location if the external drive is not connected, so first copy the original location path name and paste it on a Stickies note. After you set the external location, do the same with that path name. Then instead of having to navigate to file locations every time you change, you can just copy the path from the Stickies note and paste it into the location box.
The preceding paragraph was written for iTunes 10.6.3. Your version may differ somewhat.

How can I recover my accidentally deleted all photos from my Fujifilm Finepix z900EXR camera? I have a Mac.

a card reader is a device that plugs into a usb port on your computer. Newer computers may have one built in. I doubt a card reader will change the fact that you deleted your images. I work at a camera shop and I know of only one way to retrieve deleted images, and that is to use a photo recovery program. If you have a local camera shop near by they should have the program you need and it will be less than $50 bucks

I want to retrieve deleted messages that i accidentally removed

The messages that you delete go into your trash folder.

1. Simply go into your trash folder in your email.
2. Click on the boxes of the messages you want to undelete. This will place check marks in the boxes.
3. Then click on Move and select Inbox. The messages will be moved to your inbox.

Lost stickies notes. New note list appears under window menu as untitled but it is not visible.

Sticky notes can be saved. But once you close the sticky notes without saving it, you cannot get the details typed on it back. One thing special with sticky notes is, you will get it back even if you shut down the system provided you should not have closed the sticky notes.

I had print key exe on my system and harddrive crashes. How can I restore print key to my system?

I assume PrintKey is a program you had on your PC which may have accidentally been deleted. If you haven't deleted your trash file for some time, it may be in there and very easy to recover. It's possible you accidentally moved the file to another area on your drive. For this you will have to do a search and find of that program name and put it back where you think it belongs. I hope you have time to do some of these things before your hard drive crashes. Is there another copy of the program somewhere? can you find out who makes it and I'll try to send you a copy if it's shareware and not corrupt.

How can i get mail deleted item from trash

If you accidentally deleted an email and it now resides in your "trash" folder you can move it a folder of your choosing.First click the box next to the email, then go to the drop down menus above the email and select "move". Choose what folder you want it in and you are done.

If you emptied your trash than you can not recover the email. You could try calling Yahoo and see if they still have a copy of it on their server backups, I doubt they would do it for free.

Unwanted copies of files...

This is Windows way of protecting you from accidentally deleting files. When you delete files they are sent to the recycle bin but are not actually deleted until you empty the recycle bin. They are also stored as temporary files and do not get deleted until the computer is restarted. Windows also keeps track of all recently viewed files.
You can clear this list by right clicking on your task bar at the bottom of your screen and choosing "Properties", then the "Start Menu" tab, then "Customize", then "Advanced". Check "Clear List", click OK and Apply.
