Sounds like You need to clear out the drain pump. You should be able to access the pump from the front bottom by unscrewing and removing the filter. If not then you will need to tilt the machine back as far as you can so you can access the underneath. You will see the small drain pump. Have a basin ready to catch any water that comes out when remove the pump which is only held in by 1 or 2 screws and twisted out or pulled out. If it is clear then try removing the pipe that goes from the pump to the base of the tub. Hope this helps

My GE washing machine does not spin the water completely out of clothes. Garments come out very soggy and have to be wrung out by hand before putting them in the dryer. Any ideas?

My washer was pausing during the rinse cycle, sometimes leaving the clothes very wet as well. I pulled out the filter underneath the lower panel, it was packed with coins, etc. Has been running fine (draining) ever since. Hope this helps...

Calypso fails to remove excess water from washed clothings

There are two separate motors, one for the tub and one for the pump. They are both controlled by the motor controller board. Since you say the water drains, the pump appears to be working but since you say the clothes are wet, the spin probably didn't happen. I would suspect the drive motor or the wiring for that motor. There are procedures on the web for testing the wiring and motor windings. Good luck. There is also a pdf diagnostics/test document available. http://www.affordableappliance.com/Download%20Folder/Calypso%20Washer%20Service%20Manual.pdf

Clothes are still soaking wet after spin cycle

But is the washer empty, if there is still some water in it, there could be something in the drain line,
if all the water is gone, then it sounds like the washer is not reaching the full speed of the spin cycle.

Unless someone can remove the drain line and check the pump, and check the clutch of the machine,
I am sorry to say you should call an appliance person and have them make a service call.

If you where to post the model # of the washer, someone could look at the manual of it and see
how the washer works and what the pump is. I hope it is a simple fix for you.

Clothes were still very wet when cycle completed

When the clothes are wet at the end of a cycle, check these:

Motor coupler
Spin cycle
Siphoning
Water-inlet valve
Motor coupler To test the motor coupler, re-start the washer in its spin cycle. Let the machine run for a minute, and then open the lid and notice whether the tub is spinning:

  • If it's spinning when you lift the lid, the coupler is fine.

  • If it isn't spinning--and your machine was produced by Whirlpool®--you may have a broken coupler. Many Whirlpool-made washers use a small, relatively inexpensive device called a motor coupling. This plastic-and-rubber component is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on the other. Over time, the coupler wears out and fails. When that happens, you need to replace it completely.

Spin cycle If the washer doesn't reach its proper spin speed, the clothes may be too wet at the end of a cycle. Check to be sure the load is properly balanced and run a spin cycle again. If the clothes are still wet, you may have a worn or loose belt (Maytag®), a worn clutch (GE®/Hotpoint®), or a worn motor pulley or tub bearing. Replace the applicable component.

Alternatively, there could be clothes caught between the inner and outer tubs. Read the "It spins but won't pump" section of the "It won't drain" section. Also, there could be other things that cause friction on the drive train. Seek the assistance of a qualified appliance repair technician.

Siphoning If the water that pumps from the machine goes right back into the machine after the spin cycle, it may be because your washer is siphoning the water from a laundry tub with a slow drain, back into the washer. Try to improve the draining of the laundry tub. (Is there something stuck in the drain?) Also, be sure the drain hose doesn't reach more than about 4 inches into the laundry tub. If it does, cut off the excess.

Water-inlet valve Water-inlet valves eventually fail. One problem that may develop with a water-inlet valve is that it can no longer completely shut off when the electricity is turned off to it. Then, the valve may leak and drip water into the clothes tub--you may notice that your washer has water in it when you haven't used it for a few days. To fix this, replace the valve.

I am getting an error code "DC". What does that mean?

DC means: Unbalanced load prevented the washer from
spinning.

This happened to me when i was washing a single shirt (red shirt, first time washing so i did it seperately so it wouldnt bleed into other clothes)

So i set the washer to "drain", waited for the door to open, and wrung the shirt out by hand. Next load it worked properly.

Clothes will not wring out water

On this model, first check your pump for proper operation. Wet clothes can be the result of slow spin speed, which can be casued by a binding tub seal or bearing, brake rotor assy. not disengaging properly, or a slipping clutch spring. You also want to check to see if you have anything binding between the tub and basket that will slow it down. Sometimes a sock or lint can wad up and cause a drag.
