Your old hard disk may have been password protected (it may have the same BIOS password that was used on your old laptop). To access the data on the old hard drive, enter the hard disk password and if it is correct, you will get access to the data on the old hard drive.

Need help with a error f3f2000002 on my toshiba

That is a fatal hard drive error, possibly damaged sectors. Purchase a new hard drive and install your OS then using a usb sata connector from fleabay, copy what you can from your old drive back to your new drive.
Hope that helps to recover some or all of your data.

If the drive has failed then the only option to recover data is to send it to a data recovery service but these are not cheap.

Installing another drive with a close batch/serail number will not allow you to copy from a dead drive.

I would be connecting to a regular desktop computer and trying some of the free data recovery software available such as hirens boot cd.

ANY drive within the max and type supported could be used in your laptop.

Thses are common problems with laptops and in most cases I recover data (when the drive is not too damaged) as i described above.

I then install a new and often larger drive and build the system from the recovery CD's available from the laptop manufacturer.

Then old transfer any old data I recovered back to a folder on the new drive so that customers have access to anything that was saved.

The only sure way of getting everything back from a damaged drive is to send it off but that is only of use to you if your data is mission critical.

I use the cheap USB to IDE/SATA adaptors often available from good computer shops.

Putting damaged hard drive into new laptop

Have you considered an external case for your old hard drive? These can be found at newegg and tiger direct. I have successfully gotten data off of some old laptop drives this way. Hopefully your drive was/is not encrypted or this solution will probably not work.
In order to know if the drives will fit you would have to look up the specifications for both laptops. Look to see if they are both the same as far as hard drive size (2.5, etc), connector (IDE or SATA). One problem you will encounter just swapping out the drives is that there will be new hardware in the new computer and Windows sometimes reacts badly to a big change in system components. Sometimes it will blue screen, sometimes it will ask you to reregister and boot up, but even then you can have problems. Hopefully this helps some.

Hi, I have a Toshiba Satalite Pro U300 laptop and my CD/DVD drive will not read discs (TOSHIBA MK1646GSX).

did you tried yet to reinstall the aspi32 package from adaptec?
http://www.adaptec.com/en-US/speed/software_pc/aspi/aspi32_exe.htm

4 files are coming out of this autoextractible archive..

ensure, you delete the old one present in the system and replacing by these,
verify the version number of each to ensure the process of aspi driver reset
