Question about Canon Office Equipment & Supplies

I have a Pixma iP4500 printer, Serial No. AAWE14845 and have difficulty when attempting to print onto a disc. Following all directions, when it gets to the stage of wanting the disc inserted on the tray, it then either pushes the tray out, or just sits there. Eventually a message appears requesting the resume button be pushed. This can go on for five or six times, with no response. Switching everything off, and starting all over will sometimes cure the problem, but not always. To print about 35 discs to date, I have had to attempt the process at least 120 times. Very occasionally it has worked first up.

    You suggested downloading a later driver. I see the last posted was in 2007. My printer is only about 7 - 8 months old, so presumaly would have the same driver. ? I have just changed computers, so the printer has only recently been installed on this, but I had the same printer problem with the earlier computer. You also mentioned the paper on the disc/s possibly being not suitable. I am using printable discs, and have four different types, but meet the same problem from the printer with any of those.

    This is a good printer BUT it was a nightmare to install. The 'blue screen of death'(crash) appeared repeatedly after installation and several reinstallations from the CD. There was no driver update on the Canon UK website and I thought I had a software clash which I could not resolve. After 2 days of hassle only by chance and as a long shot I decided to look at the USA Canon website for software downloads. To my surprise I found a more recent printer driver for the ip4500, posted in Jan 2008. Without any hitches this solved the problem - a lucky break.I hope this info. may save someone else a lot of bother.

Mechanically, there could be an issue but first thing you may want to do is update the drivers for the device, if you have not updated it yet, please click on the link below to get the device drivers, if you have an updated one, just flash it, somehow uninstall and then reinstalling the printer.

    just a follow up, have you tried using another brand of CDs? because as as per others, if the paper label of the CD is too thick, it will not be accepted by the feeder therefor taking the CD out.

    before we try to open up the printer and try to perform physical troubleshooting, you may want to consult Canon for the warranty of your device, this has at least 12 months on it. you won't want the warranty voided for this one, it sure looks like it may need to be sent to canon for repair.

Not print black colour


You may have blocked print head nozzles.
Try the printer maintenance to clear the printer nozzles.
After several deep cleaning attempts and there is no improvements in the printthen a new print head is required.
A new print head maybe expensive and it maybe more cost effective to purchase anew printer.

My canon pixma ip4500 has started to print off centre to the right of the page.


Need to do some maintenance. Just go to your printers&devices, choose the printer and click printer preference. DO some cleaning and re-alignment. this will fix ur prob.

Nope. Uses "PictBridge" for printing directly from an infrared-enabled camera phone (with PictBridge ready phone and proper cable). Also print directly from a PictBridge ready digital camera/DV camcorder.

Try to print directly to DVD with a canon pixma

It is trying to "ignore" the "bypass" try.

Tell the printer to *ACCEPT* the disk from the "bypass" tray,
rather than from the stack of paper in the A4 tray.

To tell the printer, click the OK button on the printer.

You need the special cd's with a printable label, the ink just rolls off a plain cd.

Purchased new pc with Word 2007 etc. and canon PIXMA iP4500. Want to print text or image directly onto pre -labelled disc and cannot find instructions on how to do so anywhere . PC has come with Disc...


Problem fixed after hours of inverstigation on my behalf. Very annoyed that Canon want to charge me for an answer to a problem that an instruction manual should explain. The problem may be that I am only a beginner when it comes to computers and the accessories needed but why is there no manual provided with purchase? Far from happy with after sales service/problems.
