Make sure the laptop is set to a resolution the television can display. Try a low resolution to start. It can always be increased later. Make sure the refresh rate on the laptop in at 60 hertz. Then you should save the settings and restart the laptop. Then you have to hold down the function key and the dual monitor key or rather tap the dual monitor key for about 15 seconds for the image from the laptop to pop up on the television screen.

I know for my dell inspiron, i have to hit 'Fn' then 'F8' (CRT/LCD). Try holding your 'Fn' button, then look around for a for any subscripted F1-10 buttons that may say 'CRT/LCD', or sometimes two rectangles overlapping themselves. I hope you find this helpful!

Problems some times hooking computer to TV

Before hooking up the laptop to the TV, lower your resolution on your laptop then shut it down. Just for testing purposes I would try 640X480 since you can always change it. Hook up the laptop to the TV and then turn on your laptop. See if it goes into windows with the display showing on the TV. If it does then reboot the laptop and try a few more times. If your consistently getting video then you can play around with the resolutions.
If your still having video issues, try a new video cable. Also update your video drivers to the latest version on your laptop. If the problem still persists update your BIOS to the latest version.
Hopefully that will do it but if not then its an issue with the motheboard.

S Video cable

you need to toggle the display on your laptop. be sure that when you connect the tv or external monitor the laptop should be turned off. to toggle the display kindly press Fn followed by F8. for old tv's you need to have an S-video cable. for LCD monitors, either VGA or DVI cable will help.

i hope this info helps you.

Problem with picture

Most likely it's the LCD panel assembly failure. Either the inverter board or scaler board.

Toshiba CF36G40 36" TV (picture snowy)

you have a bad tuner you can replace it or use vcr if you still have one around. hook it up with av cable like your ps2 and hook your cable to it and use it to change channels. If you want to replace the tuner it will require soldering and you will have to order it somewhere. i would try partsore.com. The tuner is the metal can the cable goes into inside the tv.
