Normally, the causes of Outlook problems are incorrect server names.

You need to make sure that the SMTP and POP3 servers are typed in correctly. (This can be provided by your Internet Service Provider). Also make sure that the Username and Password are correctly typed in.

Ultimately, we need to get the exact error message and number that corresponds with the error that you are getting with Outlook for us to determined the cause of this problem.

Try to delete all profiles in your outlook and set up a new one (Tools > Email accounts). You need to ask your provider for the correct pop and smtp settings.

I can't log onto my webmail account. I haven't been able to do so for several days...

Which Webmail account >?????
Webmail is a type of email that allows you to access your messages on any computer with a browser and Internet connection.
Webmail has its advantages over email clients (such as Outlook) in that it allows remote access to your account.
It also is convenient because it does not require extra software to be installed on your computer. It takes a couple of moments to log in to your webmail account.
Open a browser.
Go to your email service login page.
For example, If you have a Yahoo! account, go to http://mail.yahoo.com/, if you have a Gmail account, go to http://mail.google.com/ and if you have a AOL account, go to http://webmail.aol.com.
Contact your Internet service provider if you're not sure of your Webmail login page.

Type your user name and password in the fields provided on the page.

Click the "Go" or "Sign In" button.
You will be taken to your email account where you can manage your messages.also
Accessing your webmail account in one of the available ways is simple and should only take a few minutes to set up.
Use a web browser like Internet Explorer, Safari or Firefox to go to your webmail site.
Sign in to your account where you can read, send, archive and delete messages, among other functions.
This is the simplest way of accessing a webmail account and is the way most free web-based email was accessed in the past.
This method is useful if you are away from your normal computer and need to check your messages.
Configure a desktop email program like Microsoft Outlook, Apple Mail or Mozilla Thunderbird to access your Hotmail account.
Using a system known as POP3, desktop email software can access your webmail account and deliver email directly to your computer.
You can use these programs for all the standard features of your webmail service.

Gather the necessary settings from your email service provider. Things you need to know include: the type of mail server used (POP3, IMAP, Exchange), the incoming server, the outgoing server, username and password and whether secure authentication is needed.

Microsoft Web Access won't send mail

If you are trying to send or receive an email in Microsoft Outlook and the password doesn't work, you can check a number of different things. Microsoft Outlook validates your email account with your email provider using various settings. Once it has validated your settings, it will send or receive email. It is not only useful to set up your email correctly but essential if you wish to use Microsoft Outlook.

Gather all of the email settings for your email account. These will be located on your email provider's website in an FAQ or support section. If in doubt contact your email provider to provide all of the settings. Look for any of the following terms: POP, SMTP, IMAP, SSL, SPA, server, and port number. Make a note of all of these. Determine when the problem exists. Check if the problem occurs when sending an email, receiving an email, or both. If the password error only happens with either sending or receiving, this narrows down the source of the problem. Click "Start," type "Outlook" and press "Enter" to open Microsoft Outlook. Click "File > Info > Account Settings." Select your email account and click "Change." Click the "Incoming mail server" field, if your error was when receiving email but not sending. Enter the full "incoming mail server" address as provided by your email provider. If your email is "IMAP" then change the "Account Type" to display "IMAP." Click "More Settings > Advanced." Make sure that the incoming server "Port" number is the same as your email provider stipulates. If your provider requires SSL, then click "This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)." Click "OK." Click the "Outgoing mail server" field, if your error was when sending email. Enter the full outgoing server address. Click "More Settings > Advanced." Make sure the "Outgoing server" port is correctly set. If your email provider requires encryption, then select the correct type from the drop-down menu. Click "OK." Click the "password" field and make sure you have entered the correct password. If your mail provider requires "SPA," then click the "Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)" to enable it. Click "Next" and then "Finish." Your password should now work. Hope it helps.

How can I fix my error 530 problem in outlook?

Your Outlook settings work fine at home, sending/receiving mail. You're on the road now, and you can no longer send, but only receive mails. You're getting an Error 530 or Outlook error 0x800CCC78.

The problem is the on-the-road ISP may be blocking port 25, and/or your ISP might not accept mail being relayed from other network domains. SBC Yahoo allows you to change your SMTP port from 25 to 587. Most ISPs let port 587 flow through. Internet access works, receiving email works, you just can no longer send.

    Solution:

    • Go to Outlook, Tools, Accounts, Server, Advanced, and change the SMTP port from 25 to 587. Hit Apply, OK, then exit/restart Outlook.
    • Start Outlook, create a test email and send it. Should work fine.
    • The solution might vary with other ISPs. Your home ISP must support an alternate port for SMTP TCP traffic, and the current ISP providing you access must not block that alternative port.
    • Recognize this is all the fault of spammers and the ISPs trying to slow them down. This is why they block port 25 for non-customers.

If this doesn't work, just change the port back to port 25.
Alternatively, as with SBC Yahoo mail, you can always use the Webmail interface. This, like all other web pages, uses port 80, which ISPs do not block.

We cant open our email, it has been three almost three weeks now. we have done all that it says to do, but still nothing , please help us . linda

How are you trying to access your E-mail?

Is it via a "web-mail" interface, such as Google Gmail, or Yahoo! Mail, or Microsoft Hotmail, or a similar interface offered by you ISP (Internet Service Provider), e.g., http://webmail.charter.net ?

Or, are you using Mozilla Thunderbird, or Microsoft Outlook, or Windows Mail, or Microsoft Outlook Express to download the E-mail to your computer?

If any of the latter, then your ISP should be able to provide you with "technical support" on how to configure those E-mail agents.

    What have you tried?
    What error-messages have you received?

I haven't been able to get my email for 4 or 5 days now. When I click to receive my mail, the entire screen goes black and then my computer shuts down. It's JUST my email. The rest of my computer works...

Just a few things to try first.
1.) Can you boot to safemode (f8) and access your email from there?
2.) I assume your ISP provides you with online webmail, can you access your emails ok from webmail? Check on your webmail that there isn't a huge email file there, sometimes they can cause outlook to freeze up (never hear of it causing a system crash)

3.) I'd then be inclined to download a virus command line scanner such as DRWEB, which is free and does not require installing, just run from your desktop in safe mode.

4.) If the above give no joy, then the chances are that you have a missing or corrupted .DLL file, although again, this would seem unlikely to cause the problems you are having and you would normally get an error message. If you do get a message before it crashes, post it and I'll look further

What error-message do you get when you try to receive?
Are you sure that there are "new" messages to be downloaded?

Ask your ISP if they have a 'Webmail' interface, e.g.,
http://webmail.roadrunner.com that you can use to look for "new" messages. Ask your ISP if they have been having any problems with their mail-server.

Check your Outlook 'Account/Mail' settings, to confirm that the 'incoming' server cited is the correct name that the ISP recommends.
