Question about Microsoft Flight Simulator X for Windows

1 Answer

Drivers curently installed for your video card may cause your computer to stop responding when flight simulator is running. What can I do? I just paid for the latest updates from peretologic but it didn't help. Another similar site said the driver still needed upgraded but I don't want to pay for another one that doesn't work. presario running xp, s3 unichrome video card.

    Thank you 2007nfm,

This is the first time I have tried to run this program on this computer. It is my home computer which is quite old but I'm not ready to replace it. The information I have indicates this program should work on this computer with this graphics card but I'm no expert in this area. maybe flight sim x is not compatable with this graphics card or the software running it. If I have to I will replace the graphics card but if I don't need to I would like to stay with what I have.

I would recommend you downgrade to your previous drivers if they were working well as newer drivers especially which don't pass the windows logo testing may indeed cause system instability. on how to downgrade, the vendor may provide more guidance. regards

I completely understand your problem.. well Microsoft has tried to explain what such problem cause and solution would be here.. but solution is indeed not far from installing the latest drivers for the graphics card which I'm assuming you have done..(download here if haven't). otherwise, installing another compatible graphics card should be the ultimate solution. regards

Have you check the drivers and compatibly?

For your question, I suggest updating the graphic card driver and BIOS from the manufacture's site, also please right click the install file and choose run as administrator. If the issue persists, try to turn off UAC.

Could be that your video card cannot handle those effects. What is your computers set up? What kind of card do you have specifically? It could be that you are using out dated drivers or don't have the lastest version of DirectX installed.

Hi paperchap
You didn't mention in your post what problem you're having. If you can post that it will help.
In the meantime,I looked into your card for some general information. It's not really designed as a gaming card, but FSX isn't that graphics intense either.
When you installed the card did you install drivers from the disk or did Windows recognize the card and use it's own drivers?
Either way I'll give you a link to the newest XP drivers from Radeon. You should download and install the driver, the catalyst control software is optional.
Let me know what the problem is,and if you download the drivers and that fixes it would you please rate my post?
Post back,I'll help out with what I can.I run FSX quite a bit.

My FSX has been running flawlessly for 2 year now it freezes a few minutes into flight Sp1 and SP2 have been installed and I reinstalled FSX and have the same results HELP!!!! Please I also down loaded...

My best suggestion here is making sure that your graphics are up to date. Whether you have on board graphics or a graphics card, check the drivers and update if necessary. If that doesn't fix the problem, are you using the gold edition, or just flight simulator x? The gold edition contains the Acceleration expansion, and does not recommend installing SP1 or SP2 as it is already updated through the Acceleration Expansion!

Flight Sim X fails to load at statup

Check your video card and its drivers are up to date and not corrupted. Might be worth downloading new drivers. Basically after the menu screen the sim enters Direct3D mode and if there is a video driver problem, this is where it will pop up and start causing problems.

To see the video part of your flight simulator you must have at least 8 MB of video card in your PC.
If your PC satisfying the requirements then u should try to update the drivers of your Video card or Also u can reinstall the directx and you can also check it by the command dxdiag which will provide you all the info. about your PC.
