Go to www.canon.com check for driver downloads, your make and model, operational system, make sure printer is plugged in and on, so the software can detect the proper communication port.

HERE is the link to the driver download page directly from Canon. Just select your proper operating system and it will show the download link. You do not need the CD.

You need to have the proper software installed to be able to scan. If you have installed it, then open the program and run the scan function. If you haven't installed the software, do a Google search for your printer model. Go to the Canon website and search for the drivers and software for your model. The software on your lost CD can be downloaded form Canon. Install the software and follow the instructions.
