My samsung i450 has the worst microphone problem,people i call cant even hear me and say my voice is crackling,yet when i make the same call with a u700 it has no problems, the phone is new,but since i bought it off ebay i have no warranty at all,does the microphone need to be replaced and if so, how much would it cost

Check that microphone is not muted or low. Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Manage Audio Device> Sound > Microphone >Properties > Level.

click start control panel administrative tools computer management device manager scroll down image devices you could see a yellow question mark?
right click to reinstall drivers or update driver

open skype go to tools from the drop down list select options scroll to audio settings
you can make a free test call before you try to make a call
make sure the microphone is using the same as your computers audio

you can make a free test call if you cant get the microphone to work you can select learn about setting up your audio equipment also

click start control panel sounds and audio devices audio and also voice its the same make sure that you have the right default microphone selected you should be able scroll to video settings to make sure you have the right settings

open skype go to tools options scroll to audio settings or video settings on the right you will see webcam setting you can change the settings from there click apply after changing any settings

you can see the webcam there you can even take a snapsot also make sure your settings are correct for a video call

click start control panel sounds and audio devices select advanced there might be a tick in the mute box untick also

select audio from the microphone drop down list make sure you have the right one selected and in the volume box make sure the microphone box has a tick in it or

select the voice tab and make sure that you have the right media selected also select volume make sure the box for microphone has a tick in it

check in device manager to ensure your microphone is installed correctly, (no yellow question marks). if all the software seems fine, you can try reinstalling your operating system. and reinstalling all the drivers from the acer website. if this doesn't work, its usually a hardware problem, you need to replace the microphone.
worst comes to worst, or you cant be bothered with all that, you can buy a usb mic on ebay for 99p, just go to ebay and do a search for: USB MIC peace, abz

while you are in call, go to options and search for it. there will be a option as record. choose it. if not go to link "WWW.VOICE RECORDING SOFTWARE.COM" and enjoy recording by downloading it. thank you

look at you Sounds & Audio Devices under the Control Panel, go to the Voice Tab and pick your Default Device to use as your Voice recorder

same i cant figure it out

you need to replace the voice coil. it is already grounded, that is the one inside the mic ball (where you speak or sing). it is not repairable so you need to purchase a new voice coil

double click on the volume icon on teh right hand bottom corner,& check whether the microphone option is muted or not

Is the squelch off? Is there even a crackle from the speaker? Does it appear to go into transmit?
If you have a friend can listen in while you try transmitting, get him to let you know if voice can be heard, or a carrier appears (on AM). If TX OK, try sideband, if OK, look for faulty speaker/ socket/ wiring. If no audio on TX, suspect the audio amp is bad.

by default the playback of your voice is muted. next to your clock theres the sound speaker icon click on it, you should see microphone somewhere there, if you dont press settings from the toolbar and then properties

then on the playback make sure there is a X on microphone.

then click ok, now check is the microphone muted? unmute it and speak to the microphone you should hear your own voice played back instantly from the speakers.
