Its either the defrost heater underneath the evaporator coil or the defrost thermostat on the top of the coil both can be tested with an ohmmeter, but the thermostat needs to be under 32 degrees to test or it will show open(bad) or if these 2 items test ok,then it could be the defrost timer in the lower area of the unit thats bad

Model number 106.51139210 Refrigerator temp not cold. Freezer is working fine.

Hello James Grande,

There are a COUPLE of reasons... your FREEZER
may seem to be working... while leaving the refrigerator
section behind...

By far the MOST common cause (I think) is a DEFROST
system FAILURE... (not terribly expensive or difficult
(good trouble to have... if you must have trouble)).

Look through the air slots in the rear of the FREEZER
section... you should be able to see into the evaporator
fins... more importantly... AIR should be able to pass
through (on its way) to cool the REFRIGERATOR

A large mass of FROST means a DEFROST Failure.

I have pulled the SEARS section on YOUR MODEL to
assist (includes helpful VIDEO hints).

I love refrigeration...
Comment me back if there are other things going on...
I stop by daily (if you wish).

Sears USA is not giving ME
a good readout on your control board...
(I am confident you have a PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD
(rather than a defrost timer)).

Hope this helps...

Fridge is warm freezer is cold

Hello Abo Karin,

You are likely experiencing a DEFROST failure
(most commonly a defrost PCB failure)...
part number 67006740 item 5 on your exploded
case view (top center as viewed from the front).

There are typically only three (3) elements to a DEFROST
power control circuit:
- Defrost Printed Circuit Board ( PCB as noted above)

- Heater element to WARM the EVAPORATOR

- DEFROST thermostat... inhibit excess heat
(closed circuit at freezing - Opens at room temperature)

Check your defrost pan...
there should be water there DAILY...

IF not: you are assured that your DEFROST fails.

You need to look for a SUDDEN REASON (huge air leak)
why FROST would form so quickly...
USUALLY a big pizza box... BUT ANYTHING blocking a
TIGHT DOOR SEAL will cause massive frosting.

It is taking moisture from the WARM ROOM AIR and blocking your evaporator...

a PROPERLY functioning defrost circuit would remove that frost
at least DAILY... and the EVAPORATOR fan would properly chill the refrigerated side blowing cold air from the FREEZER.

Yes ... all INTERIOR panels must be in place for the refrigerator to function properly.

Hope this helps

Everything in the refrigerator freezes

I would suggest you check for ice build up on the evaporator before changing anything. I would suspect a failure in your defrost circuit, before the therostat.

Freezer will not defrost itself. Where is the automatic defrost control located?

The defrost system is made up of the defrost heater, defrost thermostat and a timer. The defrost heater and thermostat are next to the evaporator which is behind a panel in the back of your freezer.

Suggest you go to sear parts direct and plug in the model number from the id tag (normally on the cabinet wall beside your crisper drawer) and it will give you an idea of the location.

I own a Kennmore Elite refrid. The screne at the ice maker says: Er FF Sears cannot help. Can you tell me what this means and how to fix it? Phone is 907-304-3480. Name is Harvey live in remote Nome...

Error Freezer Fan." Once the evaporator fan stops turning for more than 115 seconds, this error message will be displayed. The best fix so far is to replace your defrost thermostat with a Whirlpool Refrigerator Defrost Thermostat 4387490. This will allow your defrost heater to more thoroughly defrost your coils. The one you have stops the heater prematurely causing a short and nearly useless defrost cycle.

Evaporator freeze-up, fan works, can manually initiate defrost, will not defrost automatically, good connections on all wiring. Is this problem the Automatic Defrost Control?

Can you find the model number so I can help you better? Look in these places. Sears has a number like this model for example 213.256478

Kenmore 27 refrigerator flashing "de" on front panel

it is defrosting, meaning its a self defrost refrigerator and it would defrost the evaporator coil so that the ice would not build up and block the air passing it.

it normally happens every 8 hours if it is a mechanical timer, or as needed if it is an electronic timer.
