RAM or memory is a physical component that needs to be installed in your laptop/notebook.

If you are technical enough to do this, you just need to purchase the exact memory module compatible for your laptop and install it yourself. Or, it will be better if you can have a local technician from a local computer shop install it yourself to make sure that it's installed correctly.

First off; Go to; download the free Belarc Advisor, install & run it, then print the results (A free clean util. that will give you a full hardware/software inventory of the computer). On the right side it will list what RAM is installed in what slots.

Next, go to www. and download the free Crucial System Scanner Tool, run it and print the results. This will give you the specs of what's installed now and all of the upgrade possibilities. (2 free tools). Now you know max. the motherboard will take, and you should upgrade to that maximum if you can afford it. Research the RAM by Specs on E-Bay for Pricing.

IE: An Acer Aspire One 752 model has 2 slots and takes up to 2GB's in each slot (Total 4 GB..Though less than Vista 64 Bit OS will only recognize and use 3.0 to 3.5 GB's), 200 Pin SODIMM DDR2 PC2-6400(Laptop RAM) Does not require matching Pairs-No ECC (Error Correcting), and a total maximum of 4096 megabytes installed RAM (1GB=Approx. 1024MB), so (4096MB's=4GB's). So you would order 2X2046MB=2 GB's each X 2=$ Gb's Total of PC2-6400 200 Pin 800Mhz SODIMM (Laptop RAM). Currently priced on Tiger Direct new for: 2 X 2048MB ($29.99 Each plus Shipping - Would need to order and install 2=Total upgrade cost $60.00 plus shipping=Cheapest Speed you can buy). It will feel like a new computer after the upgrade if currently has under 1 GB installed and XP/ or under max GB installed Vista or higher.

Then go to then drivers & downloads, (Download all your driver updates while there and make yourself a CD of the updated drivers too, make folders for each driver in a New Hardware Folder in "Documents" or "My Documents", burn them to CD/DVD after the install of each), enter your model # and find the Manual section, download the manual, look for upgrade will give you instructions to install your new RAM. I usually order based on the specs the Crucial tool puts out from E-Bay, Crucial & or Tiger Direct for best pricing. (Depending on the model, for most laptops the RAM slots are located easy access on the bottom of the case, some are 1 slot bottom, 1 slot under keyboard...Both are replaceable. I personally do a RAM upgrade for cost of RAM + Shipping and a 10%~20% Labor Surcharge. If I am performing a cleanup or any other work on a computer I do the upgrade for RAM cost only.

    Good Luck!

How much memory is installed? I think the module is located under the keyboard and there is only one slot. Your options are to replace the memory module with a larger one yourself, or if you are not comfortable with some disassembly take it to a computer shop. Always remember NEVER take apart a laptop that is under warranty as this will VOID said warranty!

It depends on which model of Aspire One you have. The original model was not designed to upgrade the RAM so the slot is hidden in a place that you need to dismantle the whole machine to access. I have upgraded one but it is not for the non-technical.
Later models have an access panel underneath which is accessed with 1 screw and this is easily done by the average user.
Post the specific model number (D250, etc) and you may get more specific responses.

I own a compaq presario 6450nx and I would like to upgrade it. like adding more ram and replace the cpu if its posible, what could be the suggestion?

This is info on your motherboard:
Your system comes with Intel P4 2.53 GHz processor and 512MB ram. total ram could be 1GB, bt adding another 512MD stick. You have Socket 478 and processor would be up to you. The system comes with a 200w power supply so, in an upgrade, you should up the power supply. You have an AGP expansoin slot and, you could upgrade to a graphics card but again, power supply is only 200w. The system as it stands is not Windows 7 compatible. If you incraesed your ram and got a graphics card, you would get better performance.

According to the specifications of you PC's motherboard. It supports DDR266 PC2100 type of RAM and only a maximum of 1gb RAM can be installed. If you have 512mb total of RAM right now, it is advisable to upgrade for a better performance of your PC.

I wish to upgarde to the fasted CPU possible for my motherboard

More importantly RAM will give you better performance, if your computer is low on ram it doesn't matter much what the cpu is.

you can put up to 4GB of ram into it
4 x 184-pin DDR SDRAM DIMM socket support up to 4 GB
Support DDR400/333/266 unbuffered DDR SDRAM

here is a list of supported CPU's

I think any of the dual cores on that page will be a OK upgrade.

So if you upgrade your ram to 2GB and a Dual core 4800+ that should be good. but in the long run it might be smarter to upgrade to a new motherboard and even faster cpu, with DDR 2 memory, the memory ddr2 is really cheap these days.

Memory upgrade

yeah!! you can do an upgrade as long you know the specifications of your system unit. its seems that your'e good to go improve the performance ( just don't exceed it to 1GB ot it will crash your motherboard)

Goodluck!!! Have Fun!!
