Question about Sanyo 42 in. LCD TV

1 Answer

I have a Sanyo 42 inch Mode Number: DP42647. I bought it 2.5 years ago, and suddenly, the video is out. The sound is ok, as well as the "power" green LED. By looking at other forums, it seems every Sanyo TV purchased in 2008-2009 has the same problem. Some owners report having their units taken to a technician, and their response is the "main" board failed. The main board in my TV is: N4VE MAN. I can remove it, and buy it online. Should I be worried about having more failed components?.

I would just replace the TV, because any guess you make without the testing and equipment is just an expensive guess. New TV's are cheap by comparison. I have had a lot of TV'ds and the best do far is my Vizio 42 Inch LCD. 11 years old no issues.

Hi there! The panel may be in protection mode. The Inverter board is the most logical area to start after checking power supply Voltages.(5,6,24 and 13Volts). There may be coils on the Inverter Board which have bad soldering or faulty. Other than this it may be main board which controls switch on or off. If all else fails, refer to a repairer. Hello; I am John at J. D. Electronics, Poland Maine. This problem is very likely caused by a defective LCD panel. This part is very expensive! Aprox $ 1000.00 from Sanyo . Obviously, that is more than the set sold for.

Just as when the warranty expired. Ouch! Granting that the power cord is connected properly, the culprit here is a Power Supply Board gone bad. It's not a simple 'blown fuse' case. Repair can go upwards of $400. What I can recommend is to verify Sanyo's warranty terms. If it is in fact two years, you can call them (being polite helps) and request for a concession repair. It's like a courtesy one-time freebie repair for you. Build your case from the fact that the unit broke just as the warranty expired. Goodluck!
