If the screen is also pinkish before it loads windows (at the start of booting up, when it is showing the manufacturer logo or when you go to your bios), then the problem is your video card. Otherwise, it's the monitor itself.

Usually it's a problem related to the Graphic card (expensive) but before replacing it I would try the monitor cable on a different Pc: sometimes it's just a matter of a damaged VGA or Hdmi cable, which is cheap to change

You may have suffered a power surge which has damaged the motherboard and other components. I have suffered 2 myself and this sounds similar. Try reinstalling ALL your drivers and see if this solves it. If not I think *********** board has been ESD damaged.

Display has gone bad with fine vertical pink lines

Connect an external monitor to your laptop, if you get a clear image on this monitor the the video card in the laptop is OK.

The fault could be a defective inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or a faulty CCFL lamp. Most likely a faulty CCFL lamp.

Defective CCFL backlight may has the following symptom:
  • Screen flashs on red/pink and off.
  • Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal.
  • Picture flickering with dim display.
  • Picture flickering on and off.
All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) as reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp

The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

Hello,

Your card is a low end, 128mb, AGP card, that doesnt support DX9 or higher. I assume L4D runs DX9c at least, though I dont play it. I would suggest investing in a better graphics card. Many are out there at reasonable prices that will run this game. As SubliMation said, check the box for graphics card minimum specs.

I´m sorry to tell you that you graphic card or your monitor have gone to, from where they don't come back.
Can you test it with another monitor?
That way you will have eliminated the problem!

okay well the same thing happened to me and no you dont need a new graphics card you need to do the following procedures 1:upgrade youre driver 2:install the latest detonator softwear for youre graphics card. and if this does not work then you need to buy a new graphics card or someone spilled a liquid on youre mother board and will have to be replaced also.
