You need to short the jumpers to reset the BIOS. (Typically it involves moving a jumper from pin 3/4 to pins 2/3, powering up for a few seconds, turn back off, move jumper back to 3/4). Here's the manuals: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DocumentIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodClassId=-1&contentType=SupportManual&prodTypeId=12454&prodSeriesId=96297

Bootmgr missing I try using flash driver by pressing f10 it will ask for administrator password it still bring me back to restart the same thing happened when i use f8 and f2

Without entering your password, you cannot repair it because you cannot use administrator privileges. You may have to set your boot menu to boot from DVD ROM or USB and set up a fresh install.

Restore factory settings

If windows will boot.

Windows start key >all programs>Acer empowering technology>erecovery management> Restore tab(at the bottom) > factory(top of list).

If windows will not boot.

Turn computer on .
Hold Alt and keep pressing F10 when the Acer logo is on screen.
You will need a password.
If you have used erecovery before you would have been asked to create a password.
If you have never used erecovery the default password is (six zeros )
Select factory (top of list)

My hp 1000 mini series has a bios password an i dont no how to get this off someone plz help

When you depress the start button, start tapping the F10 key. This will allow you to boot to the bios where the bios password is. It's possible they selected the password function but didn't actually set a password. You can change the setting so a password isn't asked for. If they in fact did set an actual password, they're the only one that knows it so you might track them down and ask them what it is. There used to be a software that would let you reset the bios whether a password was set or not. You might Google around and find it. If none of that works, you have a door stop with some spare parts because I doubt you can even reflash the bios without the password.

Just need to know how to unlock it. I purchased it and it has a password need. can you tell me how to open/bypass this?

What model is it?
Where or when exactly is it asking for the password?
It could either be a BIOS, hard drive or Windows password. Can you be more specific?

Most, if not all, Compaq Presario notebooks have a recovery function that can be accessed by pressing EITHER F10 or F11 (depending on the model) when you power the machine up.

This will revert the computer back to factory settings, deleting all files currently on it, including Windows passwords. If you have files on it & it's asking for a Windows password, there are other ways to bypass it without deleting files.

It should work unless it's a BIOS or hard drive password that's preventing you from using it. Should that be the case, the password may have been put on there at the store where it was bought or the previous owner, if applicable. You may have to contact them if the recovery fails or cannot be accessed because of said password.

After replacing my hard drive my laptop hp compaq 6720 is asking for a power on password Ive never put one in

Using Computer Setup to Reset CMOS

To reset CMOS through Computer Setup, you must first access the
Computer Setup Utilities menu.

When the Computer Setup message appears in the lower-right corner
of the screen, press the F10 key. Press Enter to bypass the title
screen, if necessary.

-- If you do not press the F10 key while the message is displayed, you
must turn the computer off, then on again, to access the utility.

A choice of five headings appears in the Computer Setup Utilities
menu: File, Storage, Security, Power, and Advanced.

To reset CMOS to the factory default settings first set time and date,
then use the arrow keys or the Tab key to select File > Set Defaults
and Exit. This resets the soft settings that include boot sequence
order and other factory settings. It will not, however, force hardware
rediscovery.

See the Desktop Management Guide on the Documentation CD for
further instructions on reestablishing passwords. For instructions on
Computer Setup, see the Computer Setup (F10) Utility Guide on the
Documentation CD.
