You need to short the jumpers to reset the BIOS. (Typically it involves moving a jumper from pin 3/4 to pins 2/3, powering up for a few seconds, turn back off, move jumper back to 3/4). Here's the manuals: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DocumentIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodClassId=-1&contentType=SupportManual&prodTypeId=12454&prodSeriesId=96297

There is never a need for you to click on F10 during a Windows setup. Why are you doing that? Try again, and just follow the directions...they are very easy to follow.

F10 function key has password i didn't set ?

Since this came to me as a desktop question I will give you that set of instructions. you will need to power off the machine and unplug it. Remove the side panel of the computer (or top panel depending on the model). When you look at the motherboard you will see a CR2032 battery that powers the BIOS chip to allow it to retain it's settings such as password, date, and time. There may also be a jumper on the board (a little plastic square with copper in it) to reset the BIOS. You will be looking in the same general area of the battery for this jumper and it should be labeled CMOS or Reset.
If the jumper is present you will need to use it to reset the BIOS. If using the jumper doesn't reset the password then you will need to remove the Battery I previously mentioned and let the computer sit without power or battery for several minutes.
If this still does not remove your password (or if you would like to try this first) you can try to use a manufacturer override password. On a Compaq system the override should be Compaq. That does have a capitals C and the password is case sensitive.
Best of luck!

Trying to perform ''system recovery'',it keeps asking me for a password and I've never set one up.How do I get past this and rocover my computer.

on HP computer you just have to tap f10 at startup and it should not ask you for any kind of password to start recovery.
In case, if it is asking for a password, it means operating system installed on your computer is not from HP and in the past you have re-installed your windows with a different disc.

Powerup password don't know bought at yard sale

Power up your 'puter and press f8 to enter windows in safe mode. When it boots into safe mode go to your start button... select control panel.. and find user accounts . Enter and make yourself a new user account.. select administrator account . Close and and reboot the computer. Select your new user account and it should boot into windows. Go back to user accounts and you should see your account.. a guest account.. and the account of whoever owned the computer before you . That account will say password protected. select delete user account and click on the old users account . Windows will say it will delete the account and all files of the user. if it asks select ok and be patient . It will be a few minutes as windows deletes the account. Do a final reboot and the old account and password should be gone.
Good luck.

HOW DO I GET THE PASSWORD FOR THE ROUTER

Router passwords are not normally set by the manufacturer. So if you bought it new then it should tell you in the instruction manual that came with it. If you bought it secondhand/used the you will have to ask the people you bought it from.
This may help depending on the make and model.

Tis seems to be a problem with your BIOS. I will suggest you to open the CPU tower and take out the CMOS battery. It is located on the mother board. And it looks like a coin. Just take out the battery and put it back and all will be fine.
