Self test failed

This could mean that you have bad batteries in the UPS. Usually when it does this test its to test the batteries. So the UPS will start a battery test, Rectifier will lower it's voltage to a set point where the UPS tell it self to go on battery. If the UPS detects that, the battery % is lower than the allow set point to perform the the self test it will stop the test immediately. This way your load is not interrupted. Also could be that the intelligent modules or power modules have a issue which again the set point is to low or out of range due to the total of load the ups has on the output compared to the total power modules that might have a problem with. The UPS is smart enough to stop its test and sends a alarm to notify you. Hope this helps. Get the manual and go into the ups and do a diagnostics on the UPS, this should identify if you have bad batteries or power modules are bad. Doing a diagnostics should not drop the load.

Apc symmetra px stuck on self test

Place UPS into internal Bypass (Static Bypass) via the display. Then place unit back to Normal from Internal Bypass(Static Bypass). See if that helps. Or shut the unit down completely by placing UPS into Static Bypass first and then place UPS into external bypass mode, switch is located on the bottom front of the UPS. Please follow the UPS Manual to help you understand the procedures. Also recommend doing this after hours, not during business hours.

I have an Symmetra RM APC and there is an amber light showing and a beeping about every 30 seconds.

Hi Ewiesemann,

The amber light on the UPS usually means that the unit is 'on battery' -- meaning that input power is affected. Check to make sure that unit is plugged in and check to make sure that a breaker on a panel feeding the UPS power hasn't tripped.

Hope this helps.

I Have an 80KVA APC Symmetra PX and one of the power module is not working I already change position with other power module and still not working

Please clarify. If you change the suspected module position and the module is not working, then the problem is with the module. If you replaced a working module in the non working module position and it does not work then there is a problem with this particular slot. Normally you would replace the faulty module with a working one in its slot and things would be clearer. I do not understand well the way you describe the problem, however each module has a micro-switch on the side which activate the start up of the module. have a look at it. i hope this will help

We get power module failure signal. however, when we check the status of that power modules , it say off and ok. what does it mean????

You may have a bad power module somewhere in that unit but not that one... and you will need to turn it on -- rotate the chrome knob on the right of the power module in order to turn it on. It should say 'ON AND OK' or 'ON, FAULT'.

Let me know what happens.

Symmetra LX16000,5.93kva; Problem;Alarm indicating power module fault.

Hi Akortic,

Without knowing the full model number of your UPS I cannot go into specific details fully for you.. but a good test with any 'power module fault' is to re-seat the module and run a self test. This only applies if you have an extra/redundant power module to support the load. If the fault remains then you have a bad power module and you will need to replace it as soon as possible. This can all be done 'on-line' and you should not have any downtime... assuming there is a redundant power module in the UPS. This will clear the fault.

If you would like more information give me a call: 407.380.9200.
