Type of nailer nr83aa 3.25 strip nailer. trigger seal bad and needs replaced can this be done easliy or where can we take it for repair westerv

Fixing air nailers isn't hard, if you know how. Most of the problems with air leaks are due to broken, missing or out-of-place o-rings.

If you decide to do it yourself you can go to www.ereplacementparts.com and search on your model number to see a good breakdown of your gun to see what you are getting into and to figure out what o-rings you need. One word of caution, if you are going to replace any of the o-rings it is usually advisable to replace all of them and lube them up well with a very light grease before reassembly. Unfortunately Hitachi doesn't make rebuild kits so you have to order each part individually. The above website is pretty good on their parts prices but you can also use the site to get the part numbers you need and search the internet for better prices.

If you want a service center to fix it or if it's still under warranty, go to www.hitachipowertools.com and use the Service & Support tab to find a service center in your area.

I AM LOOKING FOR AN ELECTRIC ROOFING NAIL GUN, DO YOU CARRY AND WHAT BRAND NAME AT WHAT PRICE?

Raymond - Fixya does not carry or sell tools.

I recommend you go to an online retailer like Amazon.com. Search for "electric roofing nailer", or just "electric nailer" and see what you find. Amazon.com is good source for tool specifications and customer reviews. You don't have to buy from Amazon, but its a good place to research what's out there.

I can tell you one thing...electric (corded) nailers that shoot a nail of that size are uncommon. If you're looking for an alternative to pneumatic, other options include gas-driven (takes a small gas canister - usually a butane mix)...a common brand for this is Paslode. Another option is a cordless battery nailer - I believe Bostitch makes a cordless roofing nailer.

Hope this helps.

Just got a Dewalt D51825 Framing Nailer that takes 2" - 3 1/2", 30 - 34 degree paper collated clipped head nails. What is the best source for these nails, including recommended brand? Will it...

Your nailer uses a very common and lowest price nail when using bright nails. Other varieties are expensive, stainless, twisted, galvanized, so if you are a big user not a problem. I on the other-hand do not use very many nails in a years time. A case of nails will last couple of years. A box of stainless or galvanized will be an expensive proposition. Because of the weight of case of nails, shipping is very expensive unless you find speicals. At www.toolbarn.com , you will get free shipping for orders of $200 (less than 70lbs). Best bet is to find local dealers, and right now because of the economy, special pricing. Look for deals on broken cases of nails. I usually find broken/open cases of nails at Lowes for half price. Buy what ever you come accross that is a good price because nails have a long shelf life if you can keep them dry. Good holiday

Repair kits

I have been repairing Makita handtools for many years and generally order parts from two sources.
If I have the breakdown and know the part/kit number I will call Makita at 1-800-462 5482. A live person will help you with your purchase. Other times I order from www.toolpartsdirect.com. Tool parts direct has parts lists and prices for many brands and is easy and convenient if you pay with credit card. Nothing prevents you from looking up a part at toolparts and pricing that part thru Makita. If you are a business may I suggest opening a commercial account at toolpartsdirect to qualify for a generous discount. I rarely order a repair kit favoring replacing only the necessary part to save money. However, sometimes the custmer wants to completely rebuild the tool; since the customer rules, a kit is the best way to satisfy. Good luck.

Finish Nailer

The particles could be built up dirt and oil or parts of the O-ring seals. This gun should be rebuilt with new seals. Check with your local lumber yards, they often have vendor days where the vendors will be at the yard offering tool overhauls at little to no cost with the purchase of nails. I have 4 guns rebuilt/repaired this way for zero $$. All it cost me was an extra $10 over the cheapest price for nails. I figured that I received $200 worth of gun service for that $10.

Nail Gun cost

A good-quality starter set, including both a compressor and a small nail gun, can be bought for around 200 US dollars (USD). More sophisticated models can reach 1000 USD or more. Optional features such as a hard-shell case, safety trigger, and depth adjustment can drive the price even higher. For one-time jobs, a nail gun can also be rented at hardware stores and home repair centers.
