Make sure the lead/s that attach to this drive have a secure seatings and are not bad/faulty the light on only tells that its getting power it might not be getting enough power you might test the lead/s or
just replace the cable of the hard disk, when you plugged the external disk drive you got that windows could recognize the USB device change the cable everything should work fine again, sometimes the wires inside the cable will be damaged due to bending or stretching or placing heavy equipment upon the cable,
click start control panel administrive tools ,computer management ,device manager look through all of your devices if you see a yellow question mark?or exclamation mark ! or red x
right click to reinstall drivers or
if you can see your usb but its not working
ports(com&lpt)right click update driver
hope this helps

The pc does not detect the usb drive, the usb flashes. But nothing comes up

Make sure it is inserted all the way into the usb port. If nothing comes up, this doesn't mean it isn't connected, it just means autoplay isn't on. Once it is plugged in, go to the start menu > computer. This will open a folder with all your drives, both internal and external. Double click on your flash drive's icon to open it.

My external hard is asking to format everytime when i plugin

Files on a external hard drive can be corrupted if it isnot removed from the USB port properly.
Before removing the flash drive click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon andthen click on the flash drive you want to remove and then remove the flashdrive when the computer message says it is Safe to remove.
To restore the external hard drive to working order you need to format the external hard drive,BUT you will lose the data stored on the flash drive.

I CANT FORMAT MY MEMORY CARD....I DONT KNOW HOW TO FIX IT.

  1. Open control panel.
  2. Open administrative tools.
  3. Open Computer management.
  4. In the left column click disk management.
  5. This populate all the disk present
  6. Locate your memory card
  7. Then you can delete the partition entire and build new one
  8. You can format with Fat Or FAT32 file system
  9. Do not perform quick format.

Another options are available to format via cmd
To do that
At the run Menu type:CMD
then a command promt window will open
Type format x: /fs:fat32
Note that x is volume label (memory card drive label may d, e or f)
ok

Open the external hard drive cover, remove the hard disk inside, and fix it back. Try again and let's see what happens.

If it still does not work, insert the external drive into the computer, feel the hard drive if it spins/vibrate from inside or if it makes a cracking noise.

If it spins/vibrate, it means the hard disk is still working. In that case, you have to get another external drive case/cover.

But if it makes cracking noise, then it means the hard drive is damaged and you need to get another one.
All the best.
