Question about Kenmore Refrigerators

Open Question

I have a Kenmore SS refrigerator 106.55522400. My ice maker stopped working. I replace control module on ice maker, wire harness with built in fuse. My question is how much voltage should I see on the wire harness connected to the control module. There is a green, brown, black and white. My measurement on the black and white is 35 volts. I disconnected from wire harness that enters side of freezer and also read 35 volts. My ice maker is still not working so I am wondering would it be the power module behind the on/off switch in the freezer. The optics are fine hold in the panel and the light stays solid.

SOURCE: kenmore bottom freezer refrigerator

This sounds like the Maytag bottom mount that has a High Voltage Control Board problem. Does this have the freezer/fridge temp. display/controls on the left hand fridge door? Whats the model number and on the manufacture tag does it something on it like Code:0304 maybe? Let me know I may have an answer I do work on these for a living.

SOURCE: amana side by side ice maker will not fill with water

Old message, I'm sure you have solved your problem by now, but . . .
IF
Amana/Whirlpool conforms to wiring standards (no guarantees), the main AC wires should be white=neutral, black=hot, red=switched line.  Of course, they already depart with the use of the brown wire.
You should be able to access the 'full' switch at the ice maker itself and as you have found, it will turn on (or off) the fill solenoid.
It would be kind to post back what you found as it might benefit others in the future.
Thanks-

Kenmore 10653232300 side by side frige. replace icemaker motor, filter & fill valve still not making ice. No power to the motor. How to replace the in line thermal fuse to the ice maker?

Hi,

Sorry you are having issues and I hope this information helps. Personally I would replace the entire ice maker not just part to correct and issue. But, the fuse (must test first) is a temperature blow fuse to protect the freezer from over heating issue during harvest, with this being said, it is located in the red wire that connects to the ice maker directly. I have seen this blow before but is way from a faulty ice maker. If you elect to change this make sure you replace it with the same one, DO NOT BY-PASS. Your issues will be likely in the control to the ice maker itself, this unit controls water flow, heater function, temperature control (both ice and heat) and harvest.

I hope this answered your questions, remember 110v is present at all time to that harness, be safe and unplug unit first.
Good Luck

I have a Kenmore Model 106-55602400 Coldspot and the icemaker stopped working. What do I do?

The control module has failed on the ice maker. You can replace the control module alone, but I would replace the ice maker completely.
Here is a link for the control module.
Here is a link for the new ice maker.

No water to ice maker. Water dispenses in refrigerator ok. Filter is new. Also control panel not working in refrigerator section.

Its unusual that both parts would go at one time it could be you had a lightening strike or a power surge that took out both parts as they have nothing in common that one causes the other to operate other than temperature. This is what I would do. Since the control board is obviously bad I would replace that first. Let it run a day or two and if the ice maker does not start I would replace that part. I have linked them below.

To replace the ice maker module you must remove the ice maker and then remove the wiring before installing the new module to prevent the contacts from being bent inside the ice maker wire connector. Install the new module then connect the wires and place it in the freezer. Also if your ice maker has no water in it now the module is not the problem....get back to me.

On my Kenmore Elite Bottom Freezer Refrigerator, the display on the left door reads ErCo and the ice maker does not work . Its less than 2 years old

The Er Co error code signifies a communication error between the display control board on the freezer door and the main power board on the outer back panel of the refrigerator.

Check the wiring and connections between the low voltage interface and the main high voltage board.

If you are able to unplug the refrigerator and remove the cover over the control board on the back of the refrigerator,
you can check the wiring connection on the main control board.

If this wiring connection is okay, check the wire harness connection under the hinge cover on the top of the left hand refrigerator door.
If these connections are okay, then you will need access the wire harness connection in the dispenser.

Ice Maker Stopped working

Hello, I don't know if this will help because the model I have is a 106.565(32)400. I have had my ice maker stop working many times because the fill tube was iced up. After about the 8th or 9th time that it did this I decided that I had to find a solution. What I came up with was that the door in front of the ice maker was keeping the tube too cold and making it freeze up. I removed the door to see if was correct. It never froze up again but the ice would fall out sometimes if you had the door open and it was in the dumping cycle. Then I drilled several 1/2" holes in the ice maker door and reinstalled it. I have had no more problems for over a year.

Kenmore Icemaker

No, this would be an inline fuse in the wiring harness to the ice maker. The thermostat is behind the module or motor of the ice maker. The module is located behind the plastic cover on the head of the ice maker.

Refrigerator stopped.

There is no fuse in this refrigerator other than a fusable link located in the ice maker harness at the ice maker itself. There is an automatic reset breaker overload assm located on the side of the compressor that controls only the voltage to the compressor itself. Give specific details about your problem. Do lights come on, fan or fans run? supertechks
PS:find the model # on the identification plate, it will start 106.########

Ice maker not working

Your ice-maker only operates when the temperature in the freezer gets to -17 degrees. There is a thermostat built into the ice maker that makes this possible. All you are doing with the jumper is bypassing the thermostat. If ice-maker still does not operate then you may have to replace the ice-maker.
