Wireless connection to printer

Unable to connect to printer due to vista on on my notebook.

Please explain. Just because a PC is running Vista doesn't mean that it will automatically block connections.

How are you trying to connect to the printer? Local install, or across a network?

    What errors do you get.

What have you tried doing to get it to connect?

You may need the latest drivers and software for your printer. Also vista may have a slightly different control panel than xp

If you are hardly doesn't connect even your wireless station is been detected why not try to set your settings manually in your wireless card.

This is when you are behind a router.

Goto Network and sharing center. Click on Manage Wireless Network. Click on Adapter properties. Click Internet Protocol version 4. Click properties, then set the ipaddress of your laptop it doesn't have to be identical to any of your existing connection, your subnet, default gateway. And also input your IP DNS.

Vista and xp network

  1. All computers should have installed and enabled file and printer sharing, which you can see and change in the properties of the network connection.
  2. All computers should have enabled file and printer sharing as an exception for the Windows firewall.
  3. Sometimes you need to install the IPX protocol on the network connection.

I suggest you network the printer and access it through the wireless access point.

Also, I do not mean to insult your computer smarts, but if you do not have a driver installed, you will not be able to talk to the printer at all.

Try resetting your IP address:
The laptop may be trying to use the IP address from the old router.

1) Click Start (assuming Windows 2000, XP, or Vista)
2) Click Run
3) Type in CMD
This will take you to a black command box
4) Type in: ipconfig/release
The chart should show your IP address as 0.0.0.0
Once this has happened, proceed to step 5
5) Type in: ipconfig/renew
You should now see a new IP address listed.

Also note that you need to set up your network key (assuming that you are using one) on both the router and laptop.
Make sure that your router is set up to perform as DHCP server.
