Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

I unplugged my canon i350 printer and then cleaned the waste ink absorber pads. After carefully replacing them, I went to restart the printer. Now it runs but will not place ink on the paper as it runs through the mechanism. Can you help me?

I did not remove ink cartridges. I did not use alcohol. There are 2 small pads under ink cartridges that are easily removed and cleaned with warm water and mild soap. I dried them completely. I did this process 6 months ago and it worked fine when I reconnected the power cable and printer cable.

Hi

the problem is most likely that the printer head or ink cartridges do not touch properly anymore, or the contacts might be dirty, suggest that you remove all the ink cartridges and wipe the contacts clean and check that everything is touching, if the problem doesn't improve then check that the cable that goes to the cartridge carrier is properly attached on its both ends.

last possiblity is that the printer head is blocked and you need to unblock them in hot water.

The waste ink counter is probably not resetted, Try resetting the couter for the waste ink, or reset the hole printer to factory default (according to manual)... also look for a miss aligned sensor or roller that could have moved (unsnaped) while replacing the pad

Hard to diagnose throug internet without having the printer in front of me...

Good luck!

After cleaning the waste ink absorber it is always better to reset the printer.
The procedure below will help.

Soft Reset
1. Plug the power cord and the usb data cable at the back of the printer (do not plug to the wall outlet the other end of the power cable)
2. Open the printer cover and hold power button.
3. Connect power cable to the wall outlet
4. Close the printer cover then release power button.

Hard Reset
1. Turn off the printer. And disconnect the printer cable.
2. Press and hold the POWER button, turn on the printer.
3. The indicator LED should be green.
4. Press and release the RESUME button , the indicator LED should be orange.
5. Press and release the RESUME button again, the indicator LED should be green.
6. Release both buttons.

You may also need to clean the ink cartridges and the print head cause this may be clogged.
Cleaning the print head using a moistened cotton may not be the exact solution because its just the first remedy when encountering this problem.
Take out the print head and soaked it to water with ammonia solution. Leave it overnight. You can also use canned air to blow the small tube in the print head to unclogged once you have taken it out from the water with ammonia.

Hope that fix your printer problem.

There can be several reasons why its like that, i hope you didnt use alcohol when you cleaned it or else its really not gonna work. i also hope that those are not refillable inks because it will damage the mechanism if we use not original canon inks >.
otherwise, just turn it off again, remove the cartridges, shake them a bit (away from your clothes) then make sure you have installed the inks back in place and not loose then run a test page again. if this still wont work you can call 1-800-OKCANON

Waste ink absorber full

Open your printer.

To protect hands from Ink wear thin latex (or similar) gloves
.

Locate the Waste Ink Pads on the inside of your printer
. They are on the right hand side and are quite small.

You can remove the pads and the holder with a gentle pull
.

Using a tissue, soak up as much ink as possible and clean the area around the waste ink area
.

There is one more waste holder in the right back bottom of the printer. A kind of sponge. There are few screws and plastic parts to be removed and this sponge needs to be washed, dried and placed again. Be careful and patient. This is no understatement. Take a photograph (even with your cell phone) so you can trace back your steps. You also need to take care as you lift the slide/carriage. Below this you find 5 little springs.

Carefully replace the holder and the pads
. Close printer.

Whilst printer is disconnected from the mains power, press and hold the power button and reconnect to ac power
.

Release the power button
.

Press the power button again
.

WON'T PRINT - SAYS THE INK PADS ARE FULL AND NEED CLEANING.

The ink pad absorbers are full and need to be cleaned, take the top off, near the printer you will see a rectangular well with white ink pads covered in parts with ink. The pads need to be removed and put under running cold water for several minutes, next let them dry overnight on paper towels. When dry, carefully install the pads back in the well.

Ink absorber almost full

Hi

This issue with Canon Printers occurs when the Waste Ink absorber becomes full or sometimes due to sensor error.

To clear this error you can first try to clean the waste ink collector pads. Before proceeding please turn off your printer and unplug it from power source.
To locate these pads open the cover of the printer, move the cartridges with your hand. Now you can use a absorbent paper towel to clean these pads. These pads are on the right side of the cartridges.

After this you'll need to restart your printer. This will resolve your issue.

Press the RESUME/CANCEL button to cancel the error so you can continue printing. Before the waste ink tank becomes completely full, contact a Canon service representative.

Note
Canon recommends that you call for service as soon as this error occurs. Once the waste ink tank becomes completely full, printing will no longer be possible.

Conon waste ink absorber full how do you replace

Inkjet printers have a fibrous pad inside them that collects the waste ink from cleaning the print head. Over time, this pad fills up with ink and can no longer hold any more. When this occurs, the printer indicates a "waste ink tank full" error.

Replacing the waste ink absorption pads is something an authorized canon service facility can take care of for you. Once they are replaced, it'll be functional again.
