Normally, if you get this error, it would actually mean that the printhead might need to be replaced. However, if you want to further troubleshoot the problem, you can check out the manual online by going to Dell's website or by clicking on this link: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/PRN_P513w/en/index.htm

Advent resetting ink levels

Hi There
Your all-in-one printer is designed to stop printing before quality is compromised. Make sure you always use KODAK Ink Cartridges. Kodak is not responsible for the compatibility or performance of non-Kodak brand ink cartridges or refilled ink cartridges. To purchase KODAK Ink Cartridges, go to the KODAK Store.
To resolve the error, replace the black ink cartridge with a new cartridge:
  1. Turn on your printer.
  2. Open the access door. For printers with LCDs, follow the instructions on the LCD screen.

NOTE: For ESP 3250 and ESP 5250 all-in-one printers, if the ink cartridges don't move to the center when you follow the instructions on the LCD screen, see Printhead and ink cartridges do not move to center with access door open.
  3. When the printhead stops moving, pinch the latch on the black ink cartridge and lift it out of the printhead.
  4. Remove the new black ink cartridge from its bag.
  5. Remove the protective cap from the black ink cartridge.

CAUTION: Insert the ink cartridge immediately to prevent the printhead from drying out.
  6. Insert the black ink cartridge into the printhead.
  7. Press down on the tab until you hear a click.
  8. Close the access door. For printers with LCDs, follow the instructions on the LCD screen.

NOTE: For more information on installing ink cartridges, see the Extended User Guide for your printer. Review Maintaining Your Printer - Replacing ink cartridges.
If the error continues, upgrade the firmware for your printer:
  1. Press the Cancel button on your printer to clear the error message. (If the error does not clear, contact us.)
  2. Upgrade the firmware for your printer:
    1. Locate and select the firmware download for your printer.
    2. Follow the instructions to install the firmware.

Error in position of the output for ZM400

this is usually caused by a pressure imbalance across the printhead. Check the printhead pressure adjust dials located on top of the printhead. You might find that the left side has more down pressure than the right side causing the ribbon to move to the right.

Hope that helps !

Replaced HP 88 Printheads, still receive same

You either got a defective printhead or you are using generic inks, HP got real smart and added chemicals to their ink, if the printer doesn't see the right chemical makeup it will give that error and you need to flush the printhead and the pump and hoses with HP ink or the error will stay.

General Error Message

The "General error" message on the Epson R320 (as with most other Epson inkjets) can mean a whole host of things.

The most common ones are:

  • Printhead carriage blocked
(something is blocking the printhead from moving left and/or right properly)
  • Cleaning/Parking pad area blocked
(the printhead can't reach it's normal resting position)

  • Disconnected sensor
(a ribbon cable has become disconnected or a sensor has failed so the printhead or paper location is not detectable)

  • Cartridge chip sensor issue
(one or more of the cartridges has not been installed properly, has a "bad" chip or the sensor wires in the printhead carriage [where the cartridges sit] have been damaged)

If you can provide a bit more information on the error, possibly from the status monitor software that might give a bit more of a clue but hopefully the points above will give you a few places to look for possible causes.

5300 all in one printer

The only steps you can do for this are to reseat the ink and printhead. Here are the instructions for the procedure:

Remove the black and color ink cartridges.
Right above where the black ink cartridge was, in the top left hand corner of the printhead, push up towards the ceiling and you should be able to push a button that releases the printhead.
Place the printhead right back into the printer and push straight back on the back wall.
You should hear a loud snap.
Replace the ink cartridges which should snap as well.
Close the printer.

The error will either continue to show or not. If it does continue to show repeat the steps above a few times.
If the error does not show up, download the newest firmware from www.kodak.com/go/5300downloads so the problem does not happen in the future.

If you just can't get the error to clear, contact Kodak at 1800 421 6699 and they will probably need to replace the printhead for you.

Phaser 8550 error 19,004.40

The printhead was installed in another machine and the codes do not match. You need to manually sync them. Here is the procedure:

Manually synchronize the Printhead and Electronics Module codes.
NOTE: The Printhead and Electronics Module codes should synchronize automatically when a new printhead is installed. If a 19,004.40 error occurs, it is possible that the replacement printhead was previously installed in a different printer. After manually synchronizing the Printhead and Electronics Module codes, be sure to test the new printhead for print quality defects.
To manually synchronize the codes;
1). Power OFF the printer.
2). Disconnect the printer from external devices (A/C power can remain connected).
3). Locate the "Factory Only" port on the electronics module (located between the PS and PE lights (Figure 1).
4). Use a Hard Disk Drive (HDD) jumper (Figure 2) to short the top two pins.
NOTE - If a HDD jumper is not available, use another conductive item, such as a screwdriver, to short the pins. Use caution to avoid contacting the surrounding frame, as this may permanently damage the Electronics Module.
5). With pins shorted, power ON the printer.
6). When printer reaches the mechanical initialization stage of the power on sequence, power the machine back OFF.
7). Remove the HDD jumper.
8). Code should now be synchronized. Power ON machine and verify the 19,004.40 error does not re-occur.
NOTE - If error persists after this procedure, attempt the procedure again, and be sure to allow the printer to complete its BIST and POST test before powering OFF in step 6.
