Question about Kenmore 54501 Dehumidifier
Most of the time this is based on the humidity level in your home and what you have set the humidifier to remove. However, if the filter is dirty or clogged, the unit struggles to dehumidify the area. Removing the filter and cleaning it, may solve the problem. And while you're at it, check the drain hole or tube, that drains into the bucket for clogs. You will have to remove the bucket to do this. Even though you may not be able to see a clog, it may be there none the less. Using an 18" long, plastic Zip Tie that will fit into the hole or tubing is a good way to clear it out. Just do it gingerly and work it past the curve in the tubing. When you pull it back out, be prepared for water to follow it. Whatever you do, DO NOT use a wire coat hanger to clear the clog. Also, before attempting any of the above, turn the Master On/Off Switch to Off and unplug the unit from the wall outlet.
Hope this helps you solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks!
