You either have a defective start relay or a defective compressor.
If it is clicking every 45 seconds or so,you can try a new start relay.
Feel the compressor.
Is it hot to the touch?
Is the compressor fan motor running?

The refrig fan does run. Is the compressor supposed to be hot or warm or cold? Would the start relay keep it from kicking on and getting cold? Thanks

These fridges go through all sorts of cycles, the defrost cycle is probably the noisiest, strange sounds are ok, it will tell you when something serious is wrong, alerts & alarms.

I bought a French 3-door Refrigerator about three years ago and the freezer recently stopped cooling and then the refrigerator stopped cooling. The refrigerator runs but doen't cool. Any help here?

Yes. You have a faulty automatic defrost cycle. If you manually defrost the freezer, then restart the fridge and it is back to normal. It is a sign that the defrost is faulty and you will need a technician to fix it for you

LG LRFC22750ST fridge is 3 years old and the top half has stopped cooling. The freezer seems to work ok. This happened a couple of weeks ago where I opened the door and found the refrigerator half...

During the Automatic defrosting cycle there is a 60 Deg F thermostat on the evaporator that must cycle to terminate the defrost cycle and restart the compressor. If for some reason the defrost heating element is not coming on (failed / open / wire terminal problem) The the unit will just sit not operating until it reaches 60 F in the evaporator section of the freeser compartment. I suspect that you have an Automatic defrost heating element problem. Again that can be from a broken wire / terminal or the element itself has failed. It is possible that the 60 deg F thermostat itself is sticking and not cycling when the temp of the evaporator reaches 60F. It can also be caused by the temperature control that does not complete the circuit and start the unit when the fresh food section reaches cycling temp 34 - 37 deg F.

Your particular unit uses a thermistor and what is listed as a sensor to control the defrost and cycle temp circuits.

Sensor is Item 903E

I am NOT telling to order anything thing. The only way to find out is to read out the components.

Thanks for choosing FixYa.

This requires that the back of the freezer compartment be opened to troubleshoot and repair. Troubleshooting is done via resistance checks from the defrost control board or timer to the compressor. Usually blue wire from the control to the orange wire on the compressor then finding out which component has failed by reading resistance before and after each component.

The only way to find out is to use a meter.

I have a LRFC 22750 SW   LG bottom freezer with french doors.   I have been getting an error message on the digital read out ER on the refrigerator side and I think DH on the freezer side.   I  unplug...

You will get this error code if a sensor does not reach a certain temperature (+8 C, to be precise)within 2 hours of going into a defrost cycle. Increased frequency probably means the defrost build up is causing your refrigerator to run more, which will bring on the defrost cycle sooner, and the error code to repeat sooner. So, it really looks like your refrigerator is not defrosting. Soon, you will have inadequate cooling. A temporary fix to the poor cooling problem would be to unplug the refrig and open the freezer for a day or so to let it defrost on it's own, but the frost will then begin to build up again, resulting in poor cooling, depending on climate and door openings, possible in less than two weeks. Better look for service soon. If you are in the US, you can try http://us.lgservice.com/index_b2c.jsp to find service using your zip code, or call LG at 800-243-0000.

No cooling

Try putting it in test mode. Easiest way is to take cover off of board and look for little test button. Press once and fans and compressor should come on. Press twice the damper will close. press three times will go into defrost, ( only if it is cold in freezer) otherwise comes out of test mode. Press 4th time and comes out of test mode.
Do you have any error codes displayed?

Amana French Door Refrigerator "on" but no cooling; freezer still works

There are 2 possible problems. One is the defrost cycle is not working properly this is usually indicated by a large amount of frost on the back freezer panel. If so, the circuit will have to be repaired and the evaperator thawed to remove the ice build up. The other is the fresh food damper is not working properly this is behind the "lump" in the back of the fridge compartment above the top shelf, remove the louver panel to see if it is open or closed. closed will be warm open should be cold. The water dispenser reservoir is probably frozen due to poor air circulation.
