You probably lost the boot sector of the drive. You can try reformatting the drive and installing the boot sector but it will probably be a waste of time. Depending on how old the drive is you may be eligible for a free replacement but you will have to pay shipping and handling. Here is a link that may help you out, click on it or copy and paste it into your web browser:

I hope this helps you out if it does please give me a Yes on the web page your reading this response on. Thank you.

Either you do not have sufficient power getting to the drive to spin it up.. or it has failed on you and needs to be replaced.

Hi, you can download and renew the drivers from here:

http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=A7N8X-E%20Deluxe&p=1&os=

Download a manual first and check the bios settings.
Click on global for download.
Unzip the file after you have downloaded it.

The second harddrive has to be configured as slave with the jumpers
on the drive.
Check the jumpers before you continue.
Your operating system must have at least service pack 2.
Maybe you have to upgrade the bios to the latest version.
Make sure its the right bios or you will destroy the mainboard.

Trying to install windows XP expert on R61. BIOS does not recognize CD drive on bootup. What is the preferred order for bootup?

Change the boot order so that CDROM / DVD is first. Sometimes it's labled Optical Drive. If your machine won't read the XP cd try carefully cleaning the lens with a DRY q-tip.

Let me know if you need any more help!

Yes, you have hard drive problem, you get PXE error becuase when it cannot bootup from hard drive, it will try to bootup through he network instead. The hard drive must show up in the BIOS. You can verify by try it in another laptop if you can.

Drive is not reconized

Hello impurrfect,

Since you have completely removed the drive from the computer, remove the CMOS battery(big watch battery) on the motherboard for about 30 seconds then reinstall the battery, then reboot. This time however, when you press the power button to bootup, you need to start tapping F2 about 2-3 times per second to access the BIOS. If the F2 key does not work, try using F1 or maybe even the Delete key.
BIOS screenshot: yours may look a little different but the concept is the same.
http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/BIOS/Iwill/Iwill-XP4evo-Bios-105a.shtml
Once in the BIOS go to BOOT or BOOT DEVICE, something to that effect and see if the drive is listed. You will also have to reset the system time while in BIOS so now is a good time to do that as well.
Regardless If it IS or ISNT listed, go ahead and exit the BIOS and choose YES SAVING CHANGES. Your PC will now continue to boot into normal mode. Once in Normal Mode, go ahead and go through Shut Down and once shut down, reinstall the drive and hopefully the PC will recognize it as a new device. Then you can visit the manufacturers website for firmware updates.

Sata drive not recognized at boot up

I HAVE UPLOADED THE MANUAL HERE, IF YOU DON'T WANT TO WAIT THEN GET INTO YOUR BIOS BY DOING A HARD BOOT AND HITTING THE DELETE BUTTON ON START-UP.IF THE MOTHERBOARD SUPPORTS SATA , TO WHICH I FOUND NO CONFIRMATION , YOU CAN CHANGE IT BY GOING INTO THE ADVANCED SETUP PAGE AND CHANGE THE FIRST BOOT DEVICE TO SATA RATHER THAN IDE. YOU WILL ALSO WANT TO CHECK THE PCI SETTINGS AS WELL FOR YOUR CONTRLOLLER CARD ....GOOD LUCK

Change boot sequence for HP L2000

Hi,
You need to enter BIOS at startup. The correct key to press will be displayed at the bottom of the black screen when you bootup. Usually, F10, F8 or F11 or Del. Mash them all on booting up.
Now navigate the Bios settings with the arrow buttons and select cdrom as 1st boot device with the enter button. Then Save and Exit.

Fixya!

I/O error FDU80

Dear Enryc2 I don't know if you have found a solution already but this is what I tried. If this is your bootup drive, disconnect all other drives, eg., CDRom/DvDRW, FDD, USB drives and try to bootup. You may also try to update your BIOS(only if you know how to).
