    Hi,

I replaced Q820, Q880,Q860 and did not solve the problem. I have the classic red light blinking 3 times, the relay clicks...I have 5 volts but not 12, or 20....on page 3 of the power supply schmatic
I have 25v standby the PRC_OUT should be 370v it is only 37v....is this the problem ?

  • robbroys Apr 07, 2011

checked 3.3vdc at pin 8,9,11 (CN90A) - do not have

    checked 3.3vdc at pin 8 (p812A) - have 3.3
no go on the factory mode
on the pdf I have PFC_OUT has 370v on the diagram, thought it feeds the 12v....have 37v on PFC_OUT

  • robbroys Apr 07, 2011

    pin 8 (p812A) - I have the 3.3......

  • robbroys Apr 07, 2011

3.3vdc was present - your LowB PCB was faulty (top of the seine board, L type board) is the scenario.. does the Defective Seine board cause the 12v,20v,30v,24 not being present on the power supply connectors p809b, p807B ?

I'm confused on your voltage reading, based on my service manual I can't find there 370v output.

Led light blinking 3 times error code indicated of "TV is in rebooting process".

    check 3.3vdc at pin 8,9,11 (CN90A)

    check 3.3vdc at pin 8 (p812A)

    let me know the reading...

Also check if you can access the "factory service mode"

    1.Press MUTE in the remote

2.Press MUTE again in the remote

3.Press MUTE a third time but hold it now

4.Press the MENU on the tv while still holding the mute in the remote.

5.TV is in service mode now press the 9 button in the remote.

You should now be in the production self check screen.

ok, I've know now the where the fault came from...

Based on your reading you have a reading of 3.3vdc in Pin 8,9,11(CN90A) and nothing 3.3vdc in Pin 8(P812A).

The faulty board is your Seine board where the exhaust fan is located

replaced this board and your unit will back to normal again... I saw your board in ebay.com.

ok, rest the unit for 15 minutes, unplug it to the outlet, press the power on button(while unplug) for 1 minute to refresh the board and drain all voltages.

After that check again the reading of the output voltages from pin 8,9,11.

If you have a reading there the fault came from Seine board.

If no voltages there proceed to pin 8 of P812A.

Yes, 3.3vdc was present - your LowB PCB was faulty (top of the seine board, L type board)

No, 3.3vdc was not present - AV Terminal board was faulty (left side of seine board)

Yes the power supply board has a design feedback circuitry which power on each voltages one at time upon none fault detection on the first stage voltages.

check closely the voltages I've mentioned to pinpoint where the fault came from...

Where is part# STR-W6765 on a toshuba tv modal#42hl196

The regulator is located on the top right heat sink on the power supply board. It is the only component mounted to the heat sink. If you need further help please feel free to contact me via email.

My toshiba 42hl196 popped when I turned it on last month. 3 blinking lights. Brought to tv repair - they say it was the power supply and tried replacing the ICs with a kit - did not work. Said coul

Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.
http://electro-medical.blogspot.com/
http://homenol.blogspot.com/
http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device, in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.
If the fault is detected with SMPS [Power supply board],it will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

Hi I have a Toshiba 42HL196 (24" LCD TV), about

As stated by the previous expert the fault is clearly a lowering of value of a capacitor or in some cases an IC or semiconductor. You can use a heater to SIMULATE the board in different section when the set to put ON and confirm the right place to where you can checck to replace suspected capacitors.-- in TCON or worse the LCD itself.
Check this out.

It may have power supply problem due to bad caps, that will be the first thing to look for inside.

Vertical lines on screen different colors

The problem is the LCD panel or the logic PCB (printed circuit board). you can find the logic pcb attatched via flat ribbon cables or small plugs. Good luck. The part number should be on the printed circuit board. I hope this helps.

Same problem. red light flashes 3 times, but will not turn on.

Hi,

The blinking light means the controller QA01 in the AV_TERM system board is booting and driving the TIMER/REC RED LED light accordingly. This failure mode is true for many conditions, not exclusively for the main PS board PE0071. It could be caused by many things, LOW B, SEINE, AV_TERM, LCD, PROTECT, etc.

Specifically for PE0071+12VDC circuit failure, which is the most common , listen for the LINE relays SR80, SR81 coming online. If several (3) or more clicks are present when applying power to the TV set then suspect the +12, 20, +32 VDC inverter is faulty.

As a quick check, you can disconnect P807B. If the relays cycle every 1-2 seconds then is most definitely the +12VDC inverter. Check for voltage level at optocoupler Q881 pin 4 and this should not be cycling. This point is the VCC for the oscillator. Repair or replace board 75002913 as necessary.

TROUBLESHOOTING: (this is my own, not the OEM !, try at your own risk!)

  1. Check for LINE1 input voltage level at inverter on sheet [4].
  2. Check for LINE2 input voltage level at inverter on sheet [3].
  3. Check for STBY +5VDC & +25 VDC ( observe correct GND REF) page [4]of PE0071 POWER
  4. Check for +22 VDC out of regulator on page [3] out of Q822 Emitter
  5. Check P809B connector for :
  • P809B (12) POWER = 3.00 VDC (+/-0.2)
  • P809B (11) POWER_SIG = 0.00 VDC (HIGH to Power on TV)
  • P809B (10) PROTECT = 0.00 VDC
  • P809B (9) ACDETECT = 3.00 VDC (+/-0.2)
  1. Check for PFC_OUT = 368-371 VDC
  2. Check for +12, +20 & +32 VDC inverter page [5] of schematic manual.

For +12 VDC Inverter, suspect components:

Q880 STR-W6765 PSR (works really hot!!)
C888-C890
D884A and related switching circuit components.

Good luck,
