My LG VX9900 was fine this morning & when I took it out of my purse the screen said FTM Mode and I shut it off & turned it back on & it now says "Service Required". The tried to reboot software at the Verizon store - but have no other solutions but buy a new phone.

My LG EnV did the same thing to me today also. My phone was in my pocket and when I took it out, it was off. When I turned it on, it said FTM Mode and then I took the battery out and now it says Service Required. I lost everything, contacts, messages, pictures, and the calendar says January 1980....?

same problem here, FTM mode, then i took out battery and put it back in and now it says service required. i bet its because this is a replacement phone from the insurance. I had problems with this phone short after i got it from the insurance claim.

i have the same problem as sarawells or whatever. What did you end up doing? My calendar also says Jan 1980

Screen looked funny when I pulled it out of my pocket.  Turned it off then back on and now it says "service required".  Took it to Verizon and they said the software must have crashed and I need a new phone. The phone seems to work fine, I think it just needs to be re-configured.

  • AMoschel Jan 29, 2009

Same problem, however, this was on my new phone and this is the third time it has happened. The tech peeps at Verizon tried to tell me it was something in the air where I live that did it. And now I want a new phone since they have had to replace it three times already and they won't give me one. I freaking hate them right now. I just want my phone to work especially when I am paying 200.00 a month to these bastards for all of my phones.

ftm. my phone was working fine, then i pulled it out of my pocket & it was in FTM MODE. i turned it off & back on & it said service required. my mom called the verizon help line, they lady couldn't help us fix it over the phone. the next day my dad took it to verizon, they said it was a virus from the internet sending you text messages. since my phone in under warrenty they are sending me a new one.

  • VERIZONPOS Feb 24, 2009

I have the EXACT same problem as described above and below. first it crashed. took out battery to restart it, FTM mode, then all contacts gone, then restarted and now service mode. Verizon tech's didn't know **** about it and told me I need to get a new phone ... stupid piece of ****. A software CRASH and now I need a new phone!? This damn thing was near 200 dollars. of course its a year and a month old .. so no Warranty. Just Effing great, POS i say.

Upon received incoming text messages, the time appeared is not the same in my cellphone time

Messages are stamped with the time that they are processed through that service providers message center, and although the process should happen within seconds, it can be delayed, and that would result in the time difference. If this is a common occurrence, then you will want to contact your service provider.

I cannot receive multimedia mail. How do I get it to work?

here is a general procedure to understand how MMS works. In this procedure, a photo is being sent to another compatible phone.
  • Step one: Take a photo from your built-in camera phone or download via the Internet.
  • Step two: Personalize the text, graphics, audio or video clips.
  • Step three: Add recipients' number and send.
The recipient on the other side will receive a message alert. Once he opens the message, a picture message will appear on the screen. If there is any text, it will appear below the image. In case, you send MMS to a non-compatible cell phone - the recipient will a SMS with a default line, "You have been sent a picture message!"
There are many challenges that exist with MMS:
  • Adaptation of multimedia content: There may be a difference in the compatibility of multimedia content for different brands of cell phones. If the network operator is supporting your content adaptation - you can enjoy compatibility with more networks and vice versa.
  • Cell phone configuration: Multimedia Messaging Service requires some parameters to be correctly placed in you handset. Sometimes, due to poor configuration, you may not receive messages.
  • Bulk messaging: Sometimes, if you send MMS to a large number of subscribers, there might be some difficulty in sending messages. Now transactional overloads are being optimized.
Moreover, there are several similar terms such as Enhanced Messaging Service (EMS) - very similar to SMS (Short Messaging Service), allowing you to send or receive messages with some special text formatting options such as bold, color, sound effect, icons, etc.

Hi My Nokia 6500slide which had been locked to orange here in the uk was unlocked by a specialist shop and will now work with other networks. However the address /contacts list on the phone will not...

as in the contact setting your default contact would be sim contacts , so make it phone and sim. and if you cant send messages check your service center number in message settings you can get the service center number from the service provider

My phone has been working fine untill the middle of the day and now i can not text or recieve texts or receive calls or make calls

If the phone is still functional (lights come on, displays light up), it is most likely a service provider issue. Try seeing if you can dial out an essential number such as an emergency contact. If this fails, take the phone to your local service provider store and have them look up your account. It is a possibility that they froze it for a specific reason. They sould be able to further troubleshoot your phone with you as well.

Voice record memory full & screen froze

Are you able to get into the software to purge the voice records?

If not, it sounds like the phone needs to be "reflashed" at an authorized service centre. Take it where you bought it. It should not cost you if it is less than one year old (warranty).

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

I530 text messaging issue

To be able to send and reply to text messages you must have NOL net access. Press menu(left of the left arrow key), scroll to net, press ok(if an error message appears contact nextel for internet service), scroll to text messaging, press ok. From there you can write, read and reply to text messages. The reason for having to do it this way is because this phone as well as others with nextel were being produce when text was first being introduced to nextel, at that time motorola wasn't making nextel phones with the option of text, so it was up to the provider to give text access(via. net).
