Display show ANT Test Mode...will not respond to anything

Just finished a run and hit stop on my training session. Went to reset the training session and that is when my watch went all wonky. The display currently shows:

ANT Test Mode
2457
Carrier
ANT Test On

I have tried to reset it but have had no luck. Please help.

I did not solve the problem....it sort of just solved itself which is still extremely aggravating. Don't get me wrong, I am happy it is now working for the most part but to spend this kind of money and have it not work all the time is frustrating. This is not the first time I have encountered issues but I am generally able to reset it on my own. This last issue was just so bizzare that I cannot even begin to tell you all of the things the just popped up on the screen without me even touching it. At one point, it showed ANT Test Off, then it showed a huge X across the screen. Another time it simply read -1.00. After it was done displaying these random bits of data, I tried to reset one last time and had success. However, the data is not uploading to Garmin/connect. So my frustration continues.

Garmin forerunner 205 will not stay OFF and none of the buttons respond.

Yes you can restore your data from the TC after a hard reset. You have to go thtrough the setup menu like chose which language etc first.
Well I have exactly the same problem as you and a hard reset did not work either ...
Upgrading / downgrading the firmware also did not work.... the thing keeps on switching itself on regardless....
Do you have found out something more in the mean time?

Uploading multiple days of runs to Garmin Training Center

Yes it will hold ALL you runs AND keep them seperate. What you need to do at the end of each run just before you turn it off hit and "hold" the Lap button (reset button). It takes a second but you should see it say reset in 3-2-1. Keep holding untill the process is finished. What this does is end your run and saves it in the watch. When you start your watch the next time it will start a new run when you hit start. By doing this it will keep everything sorted when you down load. In the software you will see one enty with a + sign beside it. The first entry you see is the total of the week. If you hit the + you will see each individual run.

Hope this helps.

Compass 'pops up' in middle of a training run - want to stop this

You are in the mode that is used to navigate to a location. When the compass is up, hit the "quit" button, then select "stop go to" and it should stop.

I cannot clear a 'to a location' screen

I too was frustrated with this one. I played with the watch until I found the solution... Hope this helps!

For some reason I needed to be in the training mode to do this.

From the Time/Date mode, do the following:
1.) Press the start/stop button (upper metal button) to get out of Time/Date mode
2.) Press the Training side of the bezzle. You will see a workout display.
3.) Touch the GPS side of the bezzle until "to location" shows up
4.) Press the lap/reset button (lower metal button) to display a menu (may have to do this a couple of times, eventually when you release the button the menu does show up)
5.) Slide downward through the menu options until you find GPS
6.) Click the start/stop button (upper metal button) to toggle the gps on or off
7.) Press the lap/reset button (lower metal button) to exit the menu (goes to the "to a location" screen)
8.) Press and hold the Training side of the bezzle to return to your training screen

Might try a warm reset. Unscrew the plastic top of the stylis. and push it into the reset hole in the back of the unit, remone it from the reset hole, then turn unit back on.

Cant install Garmin Connect software

reboot the computer in safe mode. (HIT F8 during the startup) then after the computer loads put the ANT stick in the USB slot and it will then be recognized.

remove it and then reboot normally. Now simply reinsert the ANT stick after starting the ANT agent.

worked like a charm

enjoy

Visual direction and Text direction is different

To fix this problem you will need to download the latest version of Training Centre from the Garmin website and also update your units software.
Update Training Centre:
  1. Close Training Centre if its open on your PC
  2. Visit http://www.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=835
  3. Click Download
  4. Click Run when prompted
  5. Follow the onscreen instructions to update Training Centre on your PC
Update the software on the device:
  1. Visit: http://www.garmin.com/products/webupdater
  2. Follow the onscreen instructions to Download WebUpdater
  3. Click Run when prompted
  4. Follow the onscreen instructions to install WebUpdater
  5. WebUpdater will run automatically once installation is complete
  6. Follow the onscreen instructions to update your Edge
If the above steps do not correct the issue, then you can carry out a master reset on the unit as a last resort:
Note: The master reset will clear all user data including training history from the unit

  1. Turn off the Edge
  2. Hold down Mode + Power
  3. Select Yes when the unit asks if you want to erase all user data
  4. After resetting your Edge, leave it with a clear view of the sky for about 30 minutes without moving it to acquire a GPS fix

MY Garmin 405 wont download data. It make the connection and gets to the tarnsfer point then "transfer failed. I've one route downloaded last week but none since. I tried: resetting both...

I got the same issue and it was because of a software update to ANT+ agent being not compatible with the 405.
here is what I got from Garmin Support.
This solved my problem:
There is currently an issue that has been identified with the latest
version of the ANT agent where it will not transfer data to the computer
from a 405cx. To resolve this please follow these steps
1. If the device has paired it will need to be removed. Right Click on
the ANT agent, select Device Settings then click Remove Device.
2. Right Click the ANT agent and select Exit to close the ANT agent
3. Go to the Control Panel, select Add / Remove Programs and uninstall
the ANT agent.
4. Reboot the computer
5. Download the previous version of the ANT agent from http://www8.garmin.com/software/GarminANTAgent_221.exe
Run this file once it has downloaded
7. Turn on the pairing on the watch ? to do this go to Menu > Settings
> ANT+ > Computer > Pairing (on).
8. Enable pairing on the computer - right click on the ANT agent icon
and select Pair With New Devices > Enabled (this may already be enabled)
The Forerunner and computer should now pair, please be aware that it can
take several minutes for the computer to find the watch.
