I'm sorry to hear that. First, try booting up again to make sure it wasn't just a one time glitch. If you can't boot into Windows, try and use a live Linux CD (They're free) and see if you can access the data on the drive.
If that doesn't work, I've frozen my hard drive in the freezer before to recover data. You have to be quick, though. It's just a temporary fix. If you can't get any data at all, it's time to contact a professional.

You can try putting it in the freezer. Sounds crazy but it often works. One thing you need to be sure of is to copy your data off as fast as possible, so have another hard drive ready to copy to. It is not a permenant fix and your external HDD should not be used after you retrieve the data.

My transcend 750gb not initialize and say cyclic data redundancy error

Yikes. This is a bad error to have. This means your HD has crashed and is now unreadable.

You can try HD Regenerator and see if this utility will help recover the driver enough so that you can back up your data.

Hi,my hd FUJITSU MHV2120AH Media its not working properly anymore.I connect via usb to a mac or pc and doesn't allowed anymore to initialize the disc,so its not possible to erase all data. It tells me...

If you can read teh data with a utility, you should back up (copy) anything on it which you want to save. Then try to use the utility to format the drive. If you mean the windows drive manager, then you may need a data recovery SW to save any data.
If you can not format the drive, consider it junk and toss it. If concerned about data privacy, just smack it with a hammer till it comes apart.

You can recover your data using a good data recovery software. Install the software on your OS and try to fetch the data from the crashed drive. You can try Recova it is completely free.

How to extact the data off the Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB HD

if its your motherboard that crashed then ther is no problem with your hard disk. connect your hard disk to any other computer and you can access all the files in it.
if it is your harddsik that crashed then try recovery utilities like western digital data storege manger or any other disk recovery tool available for free. if still it fails then you can recover your data if you hand over your hard disk to the nearest service centre. but recover from a hard disk only if its very valuable. thay will charge you per MB of data recovered

Hello. It sounds like your external hard drive has crashed, or is getting ready to crash. If you can back up your data, you should do it now. If not, you should get your drive to a professional as soon as possible.

I'll monitor this thread. If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.

Bad Hard drive

if your HD don't had a head crash you will have a chance to copy your data to a new HD.
You need exactly the same disk with exactly the same controll PCA revision. Take a look at ebay or a second hand dealer.
In case you get one, built the new contoll PCA into your dead HD.
Be very carfull about foil cables and connectors between the HD case and the PCA.

I had a similar problem with a blown motor driver chip in a Maxtor drive and changed the PCA. All worked fine and I could save the data.

Good luck !

There are also companies who are specialized for data recovery but the are very expensive.
