Because manufacturers these days lean toward complete board replacement rather than providing individual components for these, it would be easier to try and obtain another PSU PCB for this model series, assuming a spare is available. I doubt it would be economical or practical to repair this DVD player, since it sounds like the PSU has burnt out/blown up - major parts have been compromised within it; therefore making any repair cost prohibitive. You can always submit the player to a service centre for a second opinion, and/or you can simply ask them where you can obtain a good working (inexpensive) secondhand PSU board from (if that's what you want to do) for this model so you can fit it yourself. It is up to you as to what you decide to do from here - but it could prove expensive - and possibly unreliable in the long term.

Samsung have a habit of using unusually rated/valued non-standard components in their appliance power supplies, which makes the repair/modification harder. Often these parts are impossible to obtain, and some modifications don't work. You can try though. If you do manage to obtain replacement parts for this board, and you go ahead to try and fix it, I do recommend that you replace ALL the electrolytic capacitors on it as well. If at the end of it all, the board is still dead, cut your losses and consider purchasing a new player - but only as a last resort. I doubt you would be able to replace the plug sockets (SNC...) but if it is just dry solder joints on those as well as the rest of the board, retouch them.

Fingers crossed.

The second opinion allows the user to determine the appropriate course of action for their product(s). I am sorry I couldn't be more help.

I replaced the mainboard on my proscan TV, but the picture still won't show, what's wrong?

Hello Anonymous,

By putting your number (plded4079-sm) on eBay... immediately produced no "USA" power boards...

Likewise an AMAZON search failed.

Which means most FIXYA volunteers are going to
have some difficulty ... The number of your PROSCAN are the only thing that DIFFERENTIATES your set from our similar USA (domestic) models...

We just call them "power boards"... and they are popular
because the new industry standard for capacitors is
"cheap & cheesy"...

The bright-side = there is a bounty of "SPARES" on eBay...
and their reliability (& reputation) is NOT much worse...

(I'm just saying) Shop around...!!

Cautionary statements:
You MUST VERIFY your own circuit pack numbers
(stare & compare)...

Get and use ESD (electro-static Discharge) wrist straps while handling EVERY CIRCUIT BOARD you care about.
(see below)

Take lots of pictures going in... Put EVERY wire
EXACTLY back from whence it came...

Had a power surge on this tv model klv32s400a, no standby led completly dead. Have opened and checked the power supply as far as I can, supply is present on primary side of transformer but not getting to...

The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.
It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.
Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device; [Exclude the model number], in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts.

Seiki lc-32b56 will not power on

Bad power supply is usually the cause of this anomaly. Check the PS board for blown fuse, burnt resistors, bulging capacitors.

I am sure that the fault was relative of the bad capacitor and swapping the working board has proved. Hope that solves the issue as all what is needed is to check and replace all the suspected capacitor is the Primary /Secondary side as the SMPS is working BUT with a limited voltage. So the threshold is low and so can be a tank capacitor, change the mains capacitor and also the secondary +B side.

No power for printer. Power and printer cables firmly in place, but no power light.

The printer has an SMPS unit and can be faulty. You will need to open the printer and the power supply unit is housed at the point of the plug in of the power plug. Take the unit out, if the fuse is blown , check for short in the suge protector, the rectifiers, the filter capacitors or the SM driver,/ IC. replace the shorted component and the fuse .
The Sm transformer is a rare case too.but if there is short at the secondary section , the same issues of the power cut off can happen. So if primary side is Ok check on the sec. side disconnect to bring power back and trace.

Amplifier repair

Unknown model not working could be a bunch of things!
does the unit have power?? fuse(s) ok?? turn on voltage present(12v)?? Any leds?? Unit ever get wet?? Any lites?? smoke get out?? was it, did it get real hot??
I have worked on a few with various problems, no common problems. Some of the things I have seen; Level adj pot was smashed in, Shorted fets , + burnt gate drive resistors in the ps section + blown runs, bad connections, shorted outputs, corrosion from beer leakage, bad electrolytic caps, leaking caps ate up the copper runs, metal bars used to hold down fets and outputs came loose, parts over heated and shorted.
Open up and look around, burnt resistors, leaking caps, puffed up caps, black marks, are all helpful signs.
These amps typically use FETs in the power supply(+/- 25-50v) and regular transistors for the outputs. Test all heatsinked parts for shorts. Carefully remove metal bars holding down heatsinked parts, keep track of where the heat sink insulators go, remove pcb and inspect runs. Repair and bench test with a power supply that has an amp meter. With out any input, unit should only use a few amps after initial 5-15amps to get the PS fired up. Then test across speaker outputs for any DC voltage. Anything over 1v, (should be very close to zero) amp needs some more work.
Good luck!
