Question about Sony CFD-G50 Cassette/CD Boombox

Open Question

I have a sony cfd-g50. It's probably about 9 years old and it's hardly ever been used and never abused. I still have it in the box in brand new condition. When I turn it on to tape,cd or radio it works but it's a muffled sound. You don't hear any mids or high end. Also when you plug in headphones you get nothing. It's sound like an amp may be blown but I don't know from what because it was hardly used and not ever put that loud. I love this boom box. i would love to fix it. Any help would be appreciated.

SOURCE: How to preset a radio station on Sony CFD-S200 Cassette/CD boombox

You will need to use the Forward and Reverse buttons on the CD player. Set the station by holding the button you want to set it to until it blinks and shows the station number.
To set more that 10 stations. Press the (>10) button and then enter 11 or 12 or so on and set the stations the same as above.

SOURCE: My Sony CFD SO1 keeps skipping/display light keeps flashing

That is an electronic problem. Probably a just-about-to-break cable in the motor of the CD drive, that sometimes causes a short and turns off the unit, or sometimes makes it to comport erratically and produce the buzzy sound. If you have electronics knowledge, then you may open and check the wiring harnesses. If don't, take it to your local electronics repair.

Testimonial: "Thanks! In terms of price though? Would it cost as much to get it repaired as the CD Player itself? Or is it a reasonable price?"

Not knowing what country you're in...

Does it LOOK generic? Then it is. Take it down to an electrical supply store or Radio Shack or look around online. "generic power cord"

Sony CFD-F10 wont play cds, says no disc

Hello,

how long have you been using this player? The problem should be from the lens (laser).

The lens is weak and that's why it cannot read/load Cd's. The weak lens is also what's making it say "no disc".

Get a lens cleaner and use it to clean the lens, but if the lens still does the same thing even after using the lens cleaner, then it means you would have to change the whole lens completely to a brand new one.

By so doing your player would play all Cd's with no problem at all.

Good luck.

I have a Sony 626 6 disk CD player / stereo. I have cleaned the disk plaer multiple times, but it continues to skip. It is about 5 years old, is out of warrenty but otherwise works great! Any suggestions...

The board that reads the discs is giong out, it is not readind the discs properly. Repairing it is sometimes more expensive than buying a new one.You did get alot of use out of it, right? You got your monies worth...
