Hello:

You cannot upgrade the CPU in a Sony laptop. It's soldered to the motherboard with over 200 pins you'd have to desolder and then re-solder to install the new CPU. But the main problem is that the motherboard is wired for the current CPU only.

Can the cpu be upgraded to BX80526C1000256! If yes what modifications need to be made? Motherboard is EliteGroup P6STP-FL

Hello!

If you want upgrade you CPU, you must first know, specification of motherboard.
If the motherboard can´t see a new CPU, more exactly bios, you can try only one upgrade bios.
I give you a link for a manual and upgrade bios.

When you upgrade bios, try new CPU, if bios again don´t see a CPU, you can´t do anything about that.

Can i upgrade just the processer?

Depends on you mainboard and the cpu speeds it supports.

Upgrading is quite simple, this guide is a bit outdated as cpu's go
but the basics are still the same. Just open up your computer,
push aside all wiring, remove the cpu cooler/fan assembly, remove the cpu, insert the new cpu with the correct amount of cooling paste and gently insert the new cpu, reseat the cooler/fan and your done.
