Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller
You may need to "Sync" the controller to your Xbox console.
1) Press the sync button on your Xbox 360. The green lights on the Xbox will swirl.
2) Press the small white button on the controller (between the bumper buttons).
After a few seconds, the position 1 green LED should light up on the controller.

Mine did the same thing until I found the issue on the xbox site. There is a tiny button on the very front of the controller and a small push button on the front of the console. Press the xbox button on the controller to turn it on. Then press the button on the console, the lights on the console start spinning. As soon as they do, depress the tiny button on the front of the controller and hold it close to the console. Then turn the console off - the lights on the controller will go out. When you turn the system on next and press the xbox button on the controller, the light will come to rest in the 1st position... (site below)... yay!
