Question about Philips VOIP8411B/37 IP Phone

VOIP841 will not register

I purchased a new Philips VIOP841 phone. I put in my user name and password, the same user name that I use in the PC Skype but it will not sign in. I get the message Sign in was not succesful....What can I do?

Probably there is typo when entering user name or login. Check and see perhaps there are some unnecessary spaces in user name or password.
Also make sure internet connection is on and working + router is configured to accept new connection.

    Base has to be connected to the router so it would get our to internet. It functions just like your computer from the point of view where it needs to connect to internet. So just like you would want to connect your computer to the router the same way you need to connect VOIP841 base to it.

Philips VOIP 841 - Change Skype Account


Your skypin number should be associated with an account on skype. So all you have to do is to login using the associated account when you turn on your phone, do this by using the phone's controls to enter in your skype account and password.

Problem with philips voip841


Try retrieve the IP address of your VOIP841, on the handset press the “Menu” button, navigate to the “Settings” menu and choose the option “Network”, then "DHCP", it should give you an IP address, make a note of this. Open your Internet browser and type in the IP Address of the VOIP841 into the address bar. The Internet browser will show the internal Internet page of your device. Login with the following username and password:
Username: philips
Password: voip841

After logging in please navigate to the “Skype” menu option in the left side menu. On this page y ou can type your Skype username and password. Once they are filled in save your settings and test on the handset if everything is working.

Hi Mudi, This phone only works with Skype. Sorry about that. The phone also handles POTS calls (landlines) but you have to connect a physical phoneline to it!

You only need a router and a DSL connection (with a Philips VoIP841). Have a look to this review:

Yes, If your phone supports SIP then you should be able to program any service provider. On the other hand if this is a Skype only phone then you will not be able to use it with any other service besides Skype because they use a non-standard protocol.
I tried looking up your phone and the closest I came was :

This says in the Tech Specs that it is voip client and softphone compatible (whatever that means). It doesnt say it is SIP compatible. So look up the user manual and if it says that your phone is SIP compatible then you should be able to program any VOIP service provider (90% of them are SIP based) but if all the manual mentions is Skype and nothing else, then you might be out of luck.

Philips VOIP841 Cannot connect to Skype - Adsl problem?


Right. I've fixed it!

Here's what I did.

- You need to upgrade to the latest firmware. This is available from the Philips website. Make sure you select exactly the model of your phone. There are some instructions about how to upgrade the firmware in the manual
- Then you need to perform a reset of the system. ie: get a sharp tool and ram it into the tiny little hole on the black box which comes with the phone. If you don't do this after upgrading, it doesn' t work.
- One other tip is to check the firewall settings on your router allow the traffic in/out as well.

I called the Philips service center, and they were a bit useless, but they said if it doesn't work you could try taking the batteries out of the phone for 4 hours. Hmmmm... only try this if the above doesn't work!

DeRegister the handset and then reregister it to the base

On handset

Menu
Settings
Handset
Deregister

Then
1 ) press Reg. Register shall be highlighted.
2 ) press Page key on the base unit until the two indications turn off.
If registration is successful,the signal icon 070928095554_21019.bmp displays steadily.
If registration failed,repeat the above procedure.
