SOURCE: computer reads:A disk read error occurred

First ensure that you have no CD inside, and that no USB memory stick is plugged.

case one : you get "a:\No system disk or disk error" prompting that there is no floppy. Even if there is no floppy on the machine. That is because BIOS has a virtual A: drive.

Go to bios settings and change bootup sequence put C:\ first

Case two, the system cannot boot and you have generic "No system disk or disk error" because it cannot load the system from C:\ drive.

In this case try reinstalling the system using windows install disk or a recovery disk. If it does not work, the disk may be damaged, and you will need to have it replaced or formatted.

More than likely you have a hard drive failing/failure.

You should have it looked at if you are not "comfortable" doing it yourself.

There might be a problem in your Hard drive. If you have tried so, Try removing your hard drive and set it up again. If it still doesn't work. You may try using a recovery disk or the cd used to install the operating system. If still the error is appearing, try to reinstall the operating system. if still, I'm sorry you might need to replace your hard drive.

The disk read error message appears when the motherboard can't read what is in the hard disk and use it to launch the Windows boot process.
It means that the hard disk is dead and everything on it is lost, including the recovery partition that new laptops use instead of the recovery disks. You will have to replace the hard disk (a quite complicated job that only an experienced person should do) then order a recovery disk from here
https://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/serviceUnitVerification.jsp
and use it to reinstall Windows.

You have as it states, a disc read error which means you have errors on the hard drive.
As soon as you get into your system run CHKDSK/F, that will attempt to restore the damaged files.
Make backups and look for a replacement hard drive.
Hope that helps.

You have problem at the boot sector of the disk. Maybe it's hardware problem (controler, disk) or maybe it's a virus. Shut down the system and try start it up after some minutes. If it start up make a full back up just in case ......
