To enter 'Programming Mode', press and hold

both the PTT button and the monitor button

simultaneously for three seconds, while turning

ON the radio. A unique tone will sound,

indicating that the radio has entered
'Programming Mode'

You can then use the Menu and the plus or minus buttons to program several of the features of the radio. Depending on whether you have a single channel or multi channel model radio, the order of the menu will differ.

Here is a link to the user guide where you will find more detailed instructions and a frequency and PL code chart: http://www.giantintl.com/RadioPDFs/Outdated%20Manuals/XTN_Series_User_Manual_E.pdf

Best regards.

On motormu2080d, I finally got frequency changed. It still is not receiving or sending. What do I need to do?

This one is new for me, so if you posted elsewhere, bear with me. You changed the frequency, I assume to match another radio. Now you must also change the Tone, called PL, DPL,or CODE, etc. Both frequency and tone must be EXACT. Such as Frequency 2, code 1. which is default channel 1 on UHF radios. Also be certain you are not trying to match to an RMV radio, and RMV and RMU cannot talk to each other.

This is a programmable radio. Using Motorola proprietary software, programming cable and radio interface box (RIB) the radio can be reprogrammed to another frequency/PL Code. This can be done by your Motorola dealer.

Can i change the frequencies on my two way radios?

No, unfortunately there is nothing you can do to change the 462-467 MHz radio to do the PMR 420-450 MHz which is legal in the UK.

Here is some info concerning PMR446: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PMR446

Change Radio Frequency

Most radios made in American have fixed tuners and do not have a way to change frequency of the radio. If they use the same FM frequencies (88.1-108.0) then all you have to do is do a scan or seek of what is available when you get there or a new radio will be needed. There may be a way to add a EU tuner and have the original radio receive the output of it through a channel in the radio. It's the cheapest way to not have to buy a new NAV/RADIO device. It would work kind of like the hands free devices that are not hardwired do here.

Radio set up on samsung j700

FM radio works the same way that AM radio works. The difference is in how the carrier wave is modulated, or altered. With AM radio, the amplitude, or overall strength, of the signal is varied to incorporate the sound information. With FM, the frequency (the number of times each second that the current changes direction) of the carrier signal is varied. FM signals have a great advantage over AM signals. Both signals are susceptible to slight changes in amplitude. With an AM broadcast, these changes result in static. With an FM broadcast, slight changes in amplitude don't matter -- since the audio signal is conveyed through changes in frequency, the FM receiver can just ignore changes in amplitude. The result: no static at all.
