One of two things:

Either faulty, or not hooked up right.

Double check your grounding point and voltage coming from the head unit (blue wire), make sure you have your "feed" wire (blue) hooked up to the proper place on the head unit. Varify 12v from battery with multimeter. IF all that checks out...your amp is faulty.

check your wiring's, there are two positive lines, one is directly connected to the batteries positive terminal and the remote positive is connected to the ignition's positive, and make sure it is properly grounded.

MTX Thunder 81001 wont push subs

first of all you should check the minimal impedance your amp handles , if is class d it should handle between 1-2 ohms total impedance in a mono conection , meaning whatever quantity of subs you have hooked to your amplifier, their total impedance should the minimum the amp handles that way all the power from your amplifier will be used.

How do I hook up one sub to my rockford fosgate p3001 amp

Hey i have looked over many rockford manuals,(i own a 300.1 my buddy owns a 325.1) and for there mono(.1) amps there hooked together on the inside so channel A+ and B + are cencted on the inside the amp. So you ither hook one 2ohm sub to channel A or you can hook 1 4ohm subs to channel A and 1 4ohm sub to channel B. There 2ohm stable so any lower will eventualy burn the amp out.

Try bypassing the remote wire staight to power instead of the stereo

My amp!

you may not have a big enough power wire to it, and it could also not be grounded good. You have to know the limits of your amp too. They are rated by Ohms of stability. Most amps that small are only stable down to 4 ohms. Most subs have 4 ohm coils, but there are also double coils, and 8 ohm subs. You will need to know the ohms on your subs. If you load your amp down to a lower ohm load than the amp is capable of handling, then it could also cause this.

Amp does not power on, flickers when cable disconnected.

With your multimeter set to DC volts, the black meter lead on the ground terminal of the amp and the head unit on (so the amp will have remote voltage applied), touch the red lead alternately to the B+ and remote terminals of the amp. If the voltage drops below ~11 volts, you need to check the wiring feeding whichever line is too low.
