Go to Start, Control Panel and click on Printers & Faxes. Go up to the top and click on File, then click Add Printer. This will bring up the Add Printer Wizard. Click Next. On the next screen make sure ‘Local printer…’ is selected and also ‘Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer’ is checked.

Click Next. If windows does not find and install the printer automatically at this point, click Next. The LPT1 port or other printer point will be selected so then click Next. If there is no port there, Click add port and proceed from there.

Not print in windows xp from lpt1

There are two likely issues. First, install the appropriate drivers for the printer from here... http://www.tallygenicom.com/products/productdrivers.aspx?id=5976. If that doesn't solve the issue, the LPT port may be disabled in the bios of the computer. To solve it, enter the bios and enable the LPT port. (Normally under "Integrated Peripherals"

I bought a konica minolta magicolor 1690mf, printer. please can one help me on the step by step on what to do? and how to connet it to wireless or ethernet. please i need an answer please.

Since several computers or laptops will access the printer, it is recommended to connect the wireless printer to the main computer through the USB port.

To begin the installation process on Windows XP, access the network setting in the Control Panel, and activate the file and printer sharing option in the LAN setting.

This will allow the operating system to recognize the availability of a wireless printer.

Now, click the Start button, go to Devices and Printers, select Add a Printer option.

Click the second option- Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer.

The computer will search for available printer and reflect it on the screen.

Click Finish; and the printer is ready to begin the printing process.
if you have any problems with your printer

click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to ports(COM&LPT) + to expand you should see a communication port and Ecp printer port you might see a yellow? ! question exclamation mark or a red X this will mean you need to install a new driver for this device right click you will have options to update driver, disable, uninstall or

Tried different ports, different usb cables. No luck. It shows in the devices but will not print

Check for the printer requirement for operating system and maybe it is not compatible.

Correct Printer icon name. Correct usb port driver needed. Check your device manager for usb port driver if properly installed. otherwise use LPT port if there is install driver for your computer.

Trying to instal an HP psc950 all in one printer to a vaio laptop, can't get it to work!

1. check for printer compatibility with the operating system if your printer support with the OS.

2. Install printer software and configure the port setting like USB port or LPT port.

3. Check the device manager if there is still problem with your printer installation that maybe your port is not support driver. try to install one port if possible.

I have bought an SIIG JJ-P00112-S2 single parallel port card and installed it on an ASUS P5Q motherboard which does not have a parallel port on it, thus in the BIOS there is no where to see setting for a...

Access Device Manager and locate and double-click on Ports (COM & LPT). Right-click on the system's parallel printer port, and select the Properties command. Click the Resources tab and deselect the Use Automatic Settings check box. This enables the Setting Based On dropdown list, allowing you to choose a setting that matches the system's BIOS configuration. As you do so, keep an eye on the Conflicting device list box at the bottom of the Resources tab; you don't want to create other problems in the process.

Canon BJC 2000 question-1284 to usb

The software package just doesn't work well with older peripherals that use legacy parallel or serial com ports. Too many sloppy layers.

THE BEST WAY to add an LPT printer port to your laptop is to use a PCMCIA to Parallel adapter card.
The PC Card slot provides access to the laptop's data bus, and the PC Card adapter easily sets up as a native LPT port within almost any OS.

There is no delay, or connection problems as I've seen in so many complaints about USB to Parallel or Legacy Serial adapters. Printing is Instant.

PCMCIA is a mature standard, and works seamlessly with XP and Vista, and almost any other OS.

PARALLEL is the old standard fast data protocol. IEEE 1284 ECP mode up to 1.5 Mbps.
The BJC-80 and the BJC-85 have the same print speed. The BJC-85 just added USB.

INFRARED is ver 1.0 on the BJC-80, and printing is a bit slower at 115.2 kbps. Even the BJC-85 with its higher IRDA transfer rating and a laptop's built-in IR port, the XP print spooler has problems with it, and can hang if printing more than one page, and especially with more than one document. It will not scan.

I use IR for printing single pages only with either the BJC-80 or BJC-85.
USB to IRDA adapters work fine, and are less expensive $5-6 than
PCMCIA to Parallel adapters, $20-25.

I have tested and used several PCMCIA adapters from different manufacturers, and they all work perfectly as a hot-pluggable, instant LPT and/or Legacy Serial port for my laptops.
TIPS:
After installing the PC Card driver, check Device Manager for the LPT port number.
Install the printer manually from the list of printers, and select the proper LPT port.
Most laptops have two PCMCIA slots. If you change slots, the adapter card driver may reinstall, and assign the next available LPT port, LPT2.

To scan with the BJC-80, you must have an LPT port.
The PC Card adapter also allows the use of the IS-12 scanner cartridge within XP or Vista.
Within Vista, set the Canon ISScan software to run in Windows 98 compatibility mode, to allow use of the TWAIN driver.

you have at least 4 choices in the bios ,epp. spp, standard, ....
