Question about HP COMPAQ BUSINESS DESKTOP DC5000 SFF - 1 X P4 2.8 GHZ - RAM 1GB - HD 1 HP (PJ143USABA)

1 Answer

My HP Compaq dc 5000 SFF runs wih Windows XP Professional... recently the Windows Operating system was reinstalled, however the person who reinstalled deleted the only partition. Of course this aused the system to malfuction as the drivers were deleted as well. Unfortunately, it is arefurbished system. I cannot even get past the Windows Installation as it gives me an error message saying a "mass storage device" could not be detected and "fatal error". How can I recover the system and what driver do I need to perform a system recovery?

Probably not compatible with Win7. Check HP's web site for that model. You might find out what operating systems are supported.

I need drivers vista compaq presario 5000 multi media or windows 7 drivers

There are no Vista or Windows 7 drivers available for this PC. All the available drivers for all versions of the Presario 5000 family are available here http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/ProductList.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=135&prodTypeId=12454&prodSeriesId=96382.

As you'll see the available software for these goes from XP back to Windows95.You might find that some of the XP drivers will work with Vista.

Error loading operating system

If you take a hard drive for one computer to another the windows wil have to be reinstalled as windows looks at the hardware configuation and if it doesn not match, will not run. If the 20 gb hard is working , reinstall it then using backup software back it up to another hard drive. That will work. Personally I use" Acronis true home" software to change a hard drive but their  are other  wil also work. Some  backup and transfer softwware even come with the replacment hard drives.
