Yes the yellow spots mean its a optical block problem. in your case it is the yellow LCD panel inside the optical block. this is not a diy fix you need special tools to realign the panel. sorry for the bad news.

Actually hardrocko it is not a DLP light engine so the link you put up is completely wrong. DLP TVs have light engine and LCD projection have optical blocks. These are two totally different technologies. It is possible to fix this problem by cleaning the blue lcd chip. This link is more efficient in helping you solve your problem. It is for a sony LCD projection but very similiar to the 60in LG. http://sites.google.com/site/sonylcdrptvproblems/optical-block-defects and http://sites.google.com/site/sonylcdrptvproblems/sonykdf-55wf655opticalblockreplacement these two site should help you fix your problem if these don't fix it then unfortunately you will have to invest in a new optical block which will cost roughly $700. I've got the RU60SZ10 which is pretty much the same TV and these two sites have helped me tremendously.

Tv projetion lg model rp-60sz30

You need a new bulb. It's easy to install. Remove the lower panel. Remove the 2 screws that hold the buld casing. Remove the bulb and replace with a new one. Replace the screws then the lower panel.

This will save you about $300 in so called labor.

This unit needs a Optical block replaced.
I would get in touch with Sony at 1-800-222-SONY and inquier about a possible exstended warrenty replacement. Some of the models that have had this issue have had the exstended warrenty exspire but I think this model still quailifies. A Sony Auth. Repair facility will need to do the repair. Sony should be able to help you in locating one in you area. Trust me, you do not want to pay the price of the Optical block. It run aprox 1200.00
plus labor. Lean on Sony but be nice. A little sugar make the world go round.
Good luck,

LG LCD REAR PROJECTION BLUE HAZE -RT52SZ30RB

Have heard that it's a common problem, there's an issue with the optical block. Sony is susposed to be aware of the problem & has exptended the warranties on some models or offers gift cards towards the purchase of a new tv, depending on how hard u push once u get someone on the phone.

We have had our RU-60SZ30 for almost 3 years. After 13 months it did the same thing, LG covered the cost of the part,($3000.00) according to their certified repair center, but they charged us $500.00 for labor. Now today, 15 months later it is doing it again. I just got off the phone with LG and they say "too bad, you're out of warranty" So my TV that I paid $4000.00 for, has gone out twice in less than 36 months and LG says, "Oh well" After searching the web I found a law firm in New York that looks like they are putting together a class action suit regarding our model. Go to WWW.ZLK.COM/ZENITHTV.HTML and fill in the questionaire.
