Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I only get normal clear picture when using the component inputs from my set top box to the tv. I tried eliminating the set top box and connected directly to the cable input and have terrible reception. Even the computer input and dvd inputs are the same fuzzy reception. Tried a different tv with same cables and it was fine,so its not a cable wire issue.

Blurry picture on my 70" vizio

As previously mentioned, try a known good DVD to the same connection (BE SURE TO USE A DIFFERENT CONNECTING CABLE,as your connect cable may be at fault) Also try any of your other inputs to the TV to eliminate 1 or more input issues.

I've tried numerous possibilities with each input but they never show a clear picture.

If the components you are connecting to the tv set are working but the picture quality is the problem, then it sounds to me like you are connecting them to the correct inputs, just your connections or cables don't have a good connection. My visio never gave me a perfectly clear picture (like you see at the store) from my satelite or any other input, until I used an HDMI cable for the connection.

The picture is too large for screen and is cut off on top and bottom. Possibly on the sides too.

There is a button the remote control that will resize images. However this could also indicate that a tv is in the wrong input and or connected to the set top box (ie cable box or satellite receiver) incorrectly. It can also indicate that the set top box is set to the wrong resolution.

Buttons on the remote control could be view mode, aspect or format, and # hd zoom.

The tv could be in the input for the rf connector or the composite cables instead of being on the input for the component or hdmi cables.

The tv could be connected to the set top box with RCA cables or a coax cable instead of being connected with component or an hdmi cable.

TRYING TO INSTALL DIGITAL SET-TOP BOX WITH DVD AND TV

Hi ccraigo
To answer your question;
Your motorola will connect directly(not through the dvd) to the tv set into one of the input ,(preferably using hdmi or component cables for hd) and the dvd will use a different input,
All you have to do then is switch between which one you want to watch.
Hope this help Cheers

How to eliminate error screen:"your tv does not allow display of this program through the dvi input source. please chose another tv input source."

"cable box to tv is hdmi cable"

Everything I've read on the web says cable box to tv connection must also use component (rgb) cables. The error is coming from the cable box (STB). All the Scientific Atlanta (SA) cable boxes seem have this Digital Rights Management (DRM) bug and the only way to be totally rid of the error is to replace the digital connection from box to the TV with an analog connection.

Yellowish color from DVD

Hello Tsmith4,
Have you tried another source such as a HD cable box on the same component input (Y Pr Pb) By doing this you will eliminate the TV or the DVD player. If the picture shows great using the cable box on that same input then we will assume that the TV is ok for now. You may want to also check the DVD menu under progressive scan that it is set to progressive scan. if the picture is still not good, we would want to look at the I/O board on the TV. The red path after the Video switch maybe open. If this is the case we will have to go to board replacement. I will tell you what board to change.

Best regards

No audio

I will try to explain this clearly.

Make sure that there is sound leaving from the connections on the top box.

Check that the audio cables are connected to the associated audio input for the video at the rear of the set. Make sure that there are no other shared inputs for the same input. With shared inputs, only one can be the default reference for input.

Check the menus in both the top box and the TV set to make sure that all setups are correctly done.
