Question about ViewSonic PJ458D DLP Projector Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

It worked beautifully last night with my macbook in a test run of my powerpoint, but this morning I plugged it in for the REAL presentation it didnt work. A bright, clear picture of the Viewsonic Logo appeared as it should (proving all was ok with bulb, etc) but when I tried to connect the same laptop with the same presentation and the same cords it would only project a dim, blue light. I had to borrow a projector for the presentation- same computer and connections and borrowed projector, and all was fine. Same issue when I brought it home afterward. Obviously, the bulb's ok because I got a bright and clear logo, but only a dim, blue screen when I hooked up my computer. What am I doing wrong? Buddy Burke

You might need to turn off your computer .
then connect the data projector
and turn on data projector
then turn on computer
hopefully it detects the data projector is connected and switches windows to duplicate projection
On my P.C. F4 key in windows Switches the display manually to duplicate, alternate screen or pc screen only or projector screen only.
As I am not familiar with Apple this support article below might explain the switching of display outputs available on Apple Mac.

SOURCE: Viewsonic PJ556d shuts down after 30-60 seconds

My solution sounds dumb, I had the same issue. Took the lamp cover off the bottom. The screws were loose holding in the lamp. Maybe they heat and expand and eventually work their way out and the lamp doesn't make good contact. Just tightened mine up, the unit would power off after 45 minutes prior. Been on now for 5 hours, no trouble.

I want to open powerpoint presentation.

then, go to format -> slide design, choose to show all documents, and choose the corrupt powerpoint file. now, go to insert -> slides from file, and select the corrupt powerpoint file. make sure you are set to insert all slides, and then import. if that works, great! i suspect, however, that you might crash at that point. if so, try repeating the process, inserting specific slides one by one until you find the problem one. after that, save the file, making sure that fast saves are off (in preferences / save).
if you are unable to open your powerpoint files then try pptx viewer tool. this utility recovers your corrupt and damaged powerpoint presentations (.ppt, .pot, .pps, pptx and ppsx formats) from ms powerpoint files.

Last few slides of a large PowerPoint lose their pictures laptop

Yes, I think having more memory in the laptop will help with the presentation. Try pulling up one of the last couple of pages and wait to see if the image ever appears. You can also pull up task manager to see what the memory and CPU utilization of your system are when you are trying to pull up those slides.

If you see more than 256MB of RAM in use, I would upgrade. Depending on what version of Windows you are running I would try to go with atleast 512MB RAM. If you are using Vista, then you should really be 1GB or more.

Mac Notebook

Hi there
One of the easiest questions I've had to answer.

From what you say you do not need a high end spec.
A 13in macbook should suite you fine. In terms of cost it is the cheaper mac. The screen size can be a hassle but all you need to do is buy a separate monitor to complement the 13in screen. So when you are at you desk you run dual monitors and when you present you use the macbook.

I'd just recommend to upgrade the ram and hard drive. Presentations such as powerpoint are memory hungry.
