Question about Hotpoint Kitchen Ranges

1 Answer

Why does my Hotpoint range Model HRCR3800ZWW-1 not bake evenly? Buns at center of pan remain white.

Visually at least all portions of the baking element glow an even red when the element is activated. I have checked the convection fan blades for any uneven/warped symptoms. All blades have a trailing edge bent at an exact 90 degree angle. Would reducing the 90 degree angle of the trailing edge help? Is there some way to either increase or decrease the convection fan speed?

Your further suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

When you bake in your oven, the element below the rack heats. Broiling causes the element above the rack to heat.

The bake and broil heating elements may be identical or slightly different in shape, size, etc. They often look like this:

It is possible that your bake element is not heating evenly. What you're describing sounds like the mid part of the element is not getting as hot as the sides - leaving the middle of the dish you're cooking undone.

The element is pretty simple and straight forward to replace. Many cost between $10 and $40. Shut off the oven /stove. Unplug or shut off circuit breaker / remove fuses. There is often a couple screws that hold the element to the plug in the oven. They are usually in the holes shown above in the back metal plate. Once the screws are removed, the element can be pulled straight out of the plug.

Insert the new element in the reverse of removal and secure with the screws. Open a window in the kitchen. Restore power to the stove and select BAKE for 300 degrees or so. This will allow the oils and dust that may be coating the element to burn off before cooking with it. A very small amount of light smoke and a slight burning smell may be detected this first time used.

I hope this helps and good luck! Please rate my reply. Thank you.

I wouldn't go bending any fan blades - as that is a recipe to throwing it out of balance and rapid failure. Do the buns in the center stay white on the bottom, top or both?

  2. Then melt butter in microwave. Add beaten egg, milk and water.
  3. Pour onto dry ingredients in bread machine on the dough setting.
  4. When dough is done, put it onto a lightly floured surface.
  5. Knead in enough flour to make it easy to handle.
  6. If it is too elastic, cover and leave 10 minutes.
  7. Use floured rolling pin to roll out dough on floured surface.
  8. Roll out into rectangular shape to approx 1/4-inch thick.
  9. Use filling and spread over entire surface of dough with spoon.
  10. Roll up dough.
  11. Cut into circle with a sharp knife about 1-inch thick; place these in a greased 9x13-inch pan.

I lost my instructions for the recipes and i don't know how to make the cake mixes

I have the recipe for yellow cake from the handbook:
preheat over for 15 minutes and spray pans with cooking spray

1. pour contents of yellow cake mix into bowl and stir to break up any lumps. 2. add 1.5 teaspoons of water and stir to form batter 3. pour batter into baking pan and spread evenly. 4. place pan in baking slot of oven and use pusher end of pan tool to push it into baking chamber. Do not use your hands. 5. bake cake for 12 minutes. 6. when baking time is complete, use pusher end of pan tool to push pan into cooling chamber and let cool for 10 minutes. 7. when cooling time is complete, use holder end of pan tool to remove pan from cooling chamber. Transfer cooled cake to a plate, turning over so bottom faces up.
frosting 1. pour contents of frosting mix into bowl. 2. add 1/2 teaspoon of water and stir until smooth. For thinner frosting, stir in a few extra drops of water. 3. spread frosting over cooled cake.
Sugar Cookies
1. pour contents of sugar cookie mix into bowl and stir to break up any lumps. 2. add 3/4 taespoon of water and stir to form dough. 3. sprinkle your hands with flour and shape dough into 6 small balls. 4. flatten 3 cookie balls and place in baking pan. 5. place pan into oven and use pusher end of pan tool to push into oven. Make sure both metal doors are closed. 6. cook for 10 minutes. 7. when baking time is complete, use pusher end of pan tool to push pan into cooling chamber and let cool for 10 minutes. 8. when cooling time is complete, use holder end of pan tool to remove pan from cooling chamber. 9 repeat steps 4-8 to make remaining 3 cookies.
those were the basic recipes in the handbook. Hope that helps

How do I change the bake element in hotpoint range?

you have indicated by your model that this is a Gas range?? therefore it will not have a bake element. if you are having problems with the bake not lighting you need to get the igniter checked out. if the igniter is glowing an orange color it will need to be changed it needs to glow white hot in order for it to ignite the gas. hope this helps.

Hold the lock button for 3-5 seconds or Find the main circuit breaker for your oven. Turn it off for fifteen minutes, then flip it back on. This should allow the door to open. Another thing sometimes, the dial for self clean will hang up, but this should fix it.goodluck hope this helps
