Dewalt cordless drill and drivers are well known for the trigger switches to just quit , and the only way to fix them is a new switch .pull side cap off,. which is held in place with a couple screws . unplug the two wires going to it plug them in new switch ,pretty easy no surprise.

How do you know if the trigger is bad? getting dc volts to trigger but nothing out when I press it.

It's not unusual for Dewalt triggers to go bad and it appears you have correctly tested the trigger. You can test the motor by wiring it directly to the battery but hold on to it and only give it a short burst of power so it doesn't spin out of the case. Dewalt triggers are fairly easy to find online but shop around, they're not cheap.

Dewalt cordless drill dc988- drill motor works intermitantly when trigger is pulled. Works a little better as it warms up. Im thinking vsr switch, brushes, or motor/armature. please help...

Test the brushes by catching it in a stalled condition when you have it triggered, then rotate it slightly. If it takes off suspect the brushes or a dead segment on the comutator.

If it doesn't respond to this, then consider the VSR trigger... open it and test by bypassing it when in stalled condition...

Dewalt cordless 12v drill, 3speed model...spinning problem

Sounds like your brushes are either damaged or the armature is failing the current. Remove the brushes first and inspect them, that is where your arcing is coming from. If the brushes appear ok, your problem is in the armature itself. Regardless of low use, if you store the unit with the battery attached, there are issues with the current draw while stored.

Black Max 24v Cordless Drill/Driver Model 33643-24v. How do you insert the drill bit? I can't "unscrew" the top and am sure I'm doing it wrong...(as it doesn't work)

grab the top by where the drill bit goes in and press the trigger on the drill motor. The direction of rotation will tighten or loosen the Jaws of the chuck.

Makita 14.4V Cordless Impact Driver only works at high speed

Most cordless drill / drivers like this have electronic switchs which unfortunately would have to be fixed by a repair agent. Depending on it's age - make sure that you tell the agent that it never really worked properly, warrentys only cover parts that were faulty from manufacture and not wear and tear, so it may get fixed for free depending on the repair centre
