Question about Sharp Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

I have a Sharp EL-546D scientific calculator. I've hit some button and now there is an "H" on the left hand side of the screen and the keypad does not recognise a decimal point (if I type 22.11 it just enters as 2211).

You have it in HEX mode. Hit 2ndF and then the + button. This will put it back into Decimal mode.

Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

As I added on to the previous solution on the other problem.

"Okay, I did what the best solution did and worked with it.

"1. press 2nd F (left top corner)
2. ENG/FIX (the button next to 2nd F)
3. press 0 (if you don't want calculator to round off any decimals)"

In order to get your exact value of pi, in step #3, instead of 0, press the decimal [ . ]
This should give you no decimals when entering a number and give you 3.141592654... when you input pi.
Hope that works/helps."

SOURCE: Sharp EL-5100 Manual

I've got a manual in the original box I got 30 yrs ago. The calculator's dial is getting to the unreadable state and I'm just about to turf it all out. Is there any particular function you want to know about?

Check the Decimal / Add Selector. It shoul be set to "A" (Add mode), to permit addition and subtraction of numbers without entry of the decimal point.

The decimal digit assignment will appear as “F” (for “floating point”), “2” or “0” on the LCD. (The default is “F”.)

Have a sharp EL-506w calculator i have ten zeros on the screen it will do problems but it s a bunch of zeros behind it it aiso says x10 in small context at the far right side bottom of the screen.

Your calculator is set to display in scientific notation. To change it, press SETUP 1 then choose the desired mode. For most purposes you'll probably want Floating Point. For more details see the third column of the first page of the manual.
