the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).

Important Notes about the Internet Channel and Opera Browser
  • The information on this page describes the features found in the latest version of the Internet Channel (ver. 9.30). You can identify the version number of your Internet Channel by selecting the Opera/Home icon in the tool bar of the browser, then clicking on the "Opera Powered" icon at the top of the screen.

  • USB keyboard support is only available for version 9.30. Visit the Wii Channels section of the Wii Shop Channel to obtain the latest version.

  • The Internet Channel supports http and https. It is not compatible with other types of protocols, such as ftp, mailto, etc.

  • The Internet Channel is compatible with Flash, up to version 8. It is compatible with all earlier versions, but versions higher than 8 will not be compatible. There is currently no way to download and install higher versions of the Flash Player to the Wii console.

  • You can allow access to the Internet Channel through the Parental Controls of the Wii. If the controls are enabled, access to the Internet Channel will require the PIN to be entereed.

  • When entering website address, you do not need to type in "http://"; however, websites that begin with "https://" will need to be entered in full.

  • The Classic Controller, Nintendo GameCube Controller, and Nunchuk are not used with the Internet Channel. In addition, only one Wii Remote will work with the Internet Channel at a time. USB keyboard support is available for versions 9.30 and higher. Visit the Wii Channels section of the Wii Shop Channel to obtain the latest version.

  • Many types of video playback, such as QuickTime (.avi) and Windows Media Video (.wmv) are not compatible with the Opera Browser and will not play.

  • The Internet Channel costs 0 Wii Points to download, and is available in the Wii Shop Channel, in the Wii Channels section.

  • The Wii console supports cookies. At this time, there is no way to delete cookies without deleting the Internet Channel's saved data from the system memory

How do I get hooked up to the Internet on my wii??

    1. Be sure that your Internet connection is running smoothly and the green lights are all up. If you have a Nintendo Wi-Fi connector, you need to have the software installed and your computer connected to the Internet.
    2. Turn on your Wii.
    3. Select Wii Options, which is located on the bottom left of the screen. This is the button with the Wii logo.
    4. Select Wii Settings.
    5. Click forward to the second menu screen using the blue arrow to the right.
    6. Select Internet.
    7. Select Connection Settings.
    8. Choose an open connection, indicated by the word: "none".
    9. Choose a wireless connection.
    10. Determine the best option for you: Manual configuration or Search for an Access Point.
    11. On Search for an Access Point, your Wii will search for a wireless network to connect to and will display a list of available networks. Networks identified with a closed padlock require authentication to join.

    Wii

If you go to wii options on the bottom left of the wii menu, hit wii settings and then keep moving to the right until you see the option "internet," click on it and select connection settings and search for an acces point. If you can't find one that is unsecure, go back and buy a Nintendo wi-fi usb connecter, (I got mine @ walmart), and then install the software into your computer and follow your instruction manual. then connect with the Nintendo wi-fi usb connectewr on the connections screen, then you should be good to go!

All you need is a wireless router. The Wii comes ready w/ WiFi. We installed a Linksys WRT54G2 router and hard wired to one sons xbox and Wii connects via WiFi. The router was about $45.00 @ Best Buy.
